More than 76 million residential buildings and nearly 5 million commercial buildings are consuming one-third of all energy and two-thirds of all electricity in the US. Another 38 million buildings are expected to be constructed by 2010.
Building design firms are transitioning their business-design processes towards integrating LEED and Building Information Modeling (BIM). Buildings must simply do more for their owners, occupants and communities. The BIM process can analyze and simulate green building design options in the computer prior to construction and occupancy.

Small, Individual Collaborative Steps to Achieve Great Rewards
Micro-Green
Green, renewable, and sustainable are attainable ideals.
I like this lens as it provides the average person with small, easy, common sense methods they can do now.
Steps that collaboratively and exponentially contribute to green, renewable and sustainable concepts. Much like the financial theory of compound interest.

- Smart Growth Online
- In communities across the nation, there is a growing concern that current development patterns -- dominated by what some call "sprawl" -- are no longer in the long-term interest of our cities, existing suburbs, small towns, rural communities, or wilderness areas. Though supportive of growth, communities are questioning the economic costs of abandoning infrastructure in the city, only to rebuild it further out. Spurring the smart growth movement are demographic shifts, a strong environmental ethic, increased fiscal concerns, and more nuanced views of growth. The result is both a new demand and a new opportunity for smart growth.
