Green Day; How Their Punk Rock Clothing Style Grips The Imagination

They've been around for a while but now Green Day have truly cemented themselves as legends amongst punk rock bands. After the massive success of American Idiot the band have finally released their new album "21st century breakdown" and its a smash hit with their fans.

It all started when founding member Billie joe Armstrong met Bassist Mike Dirnt at the tender age of 10, whilst sharing a love of everything punk/rock including bands such as The Who and Motley Crue, they started fooling around and creating their own music.

It wasn't till 1991 when they met drummer Tre Cool that the final line up we all know today was complete.

Green Day have sold over 66 millioon records worldwide ad remain a brilliant and inventive act, although the more popular they became the more it alienated their die hard fans who had their own ideas of punk.
But as Billie Joe once said " Punk has always been about doing things your own way, what it represents to me is ultimate freedom and a sense of individuality" And this philosophy hes led to the band creating the best punk rock operas of all time.

In the 70's being a punk rocker was a dangerous occupation and rather risky to be associated with. Venues were scarce and always being shut down by the cops.
But today you can walk into any music store like HMV and just pick a wide selection of punk rock t shirts from the rack like "the remones" and indeed Green Day, or see any of these bands at successful music festivals such as the punk rock mecca that is "The Vans Warped tour", download and even reading festival.
And for this turnaround we can thank bands such as Green Day who helped lead the mid 90's Punk rock explosion.

As the years have past we've seen these punk rock kids transform into men, their punk rock clothing may have changed and their punk rock clothing style is more fresh but they have stayed true to their roots and thats why Green day remain punk rock legends.
