Private, Business, and Government Sectors All Agree-- Going Green is Chic

Millions of individuals, and thousands of businesses and government entities join together as the "Green Earth" movement reaches revolutionary proportions. Going Green is not only the responsible thing to do; it's in fashion for intelligent informed people in the twenty-first century. Learn specifically how this powerful movement affects us all individually and in private business and government sectors.

Treehugger-- No longer a dirty word.

From Crazy Hippies of yesteryear to today's Politicians, Researchers, and Venture Capitalists

Enviornmental awareness began as a movement in America in the 1960's. Majority opinion in the political arena and private sector held these early revolutionaries in contempt. "Hippies", "health nuts", and "tree-huggers" were a few of the labels attached to the early enviornmental revolutionaries.

Times have changed. Awareness has steadily been growing as to the delicate balance of the earth's resources. Once, most people considered this big green orb to provide a boundless supply of water, air, petroleum, vegetation, and livestock. Now, most agree that these resources will eventually deplete if not conserved and cared for.

Green Earth- The Savvy Business Model

Businesses Cater to Growing Awareness

Retail businesses across the globe are including green earth products as public awareness continues to grow.

Today's consumer is no longer concerned only with price as the number one factor in deciding a purchase. Other considerations such as quality, organic materials, fair trade substances, and cruelty free products are tops on the list.

Manufacturers are becoming actively involved in these trends as they have been the worst offenders in times past. Products such as coffee, tea, and chocolate are appearing more often and in greater numbers with labels such as "fair trade" and "organic" as consumers become more savvy themselves.

Saving the rainforests is of greater concern as many of these favorite foods and beverages grow only in rainforests.

Retail chains from Macy's to Wal-mart are now carrying products from foods and beverages to cleaning products to cosmetics that benefit today's ecological enviornment.

Green Gold Rush

What's in Store for the Future?

In a 2008 ABC News telecast, the Green gold rush is on. Companies are springing up in a race to research, develop, and produce products using alternate energy sources.

Attributing the trend to rising gasoline and natural gas prices as well as global warming awareness, over 48 billion dollars in revenue was spent in 2007 to find answers to the energy problem. That was twice the amount spent just one year before.

Money is pouring in to find the next energy gold mine, much of it coming from venture capitalists and even pension funds. Many of these companies will fail, but the public shows faith through revenues, and it's believed some of these companies will indeed find much needed solutions to a problem that grows in intensity with each passing year.
