Tips for Buying Cookie Cutters

Tin, Copper or Plastic?

Now that the The Holidays are over our thoughts can turn to the next big Holiday, Easter!
Buying great cookie cutters for your holiday baking is easy:
Cookie cutters come in all shapes and sizes and are made of copper, tin or plastic. It is easier to cut through tough dough using copper or tin. There is not a big difference between copper and tin cookie cutters. Copper tends to be sturdier, if you are buying very large cutters, copper would be a better choice. Copper is very attractive and decorative too. It is the most expensive option of the three. If you're making small to medium-sized cookies, tin or plastic will work just as well as copper. Tip: Remember to hand wash your cookie cutters to prevent tarnishing or warping.

An easy way to bake great cookies

Wow! Can you believe how quick the the time is going by! Bake up some cute summertime cookies to share with your kids, neighbors, friends, co-workers and family, heres how:
Buy a roll of pre made sugar cookie mix,
you can find it in the refrigerator section of the grocery store. Be sure to buy a some pre made frosting and lots of sprinkles or any other desired decorations.
Roll out the dough, use your favorite cookie cutters,
bake, frost, decorate and you have yummy cookies in no time!

Great uses for Cookie Cutters

Not just for dough!

Cookie Cutters have so many uses other than cutting out cookies.
Here are a few ideas:

*Use shaper style cookie cutters as stencils. You can make great
decorations for your scrap booking, greeting cards and for decorating.

*Use smaller metal shapes to make fancy pats of butter for your holiday table. Roll your stick of butter flat and cut out. Put on a pretty plate.

*Make salt dough for the kids and let them make great ornaments to tie on gift packages.

*Detailed cookie cutters can be used as design stencils for cakes or cupcakes, just press the cookie cutter onto the frosting and decorate around the design.

*Kids will gobble up sandwiches when they are bite-size and in fun shapes!

Hallmark Cookie Cutters are very desirable to Collectors. Hallmark has been producing cookie cutters since the 1960's but in the early 1970's their production increased. Hallmark cookie cutters are colorful and well made. Some are made of hard plastic and some are made of a softer plastic with detailed designs. There are also the shaper type cookie cutters that are not detailed giving you the opportunity to be creative.
The detailed cookie cutters are especially great for using as a design guide on cakes. Simply press the cookie cutter into the frosting, then pipe your frosting around the lines.

My Favorite Cookie ~ Toll House

YUM!

I LOVE Toll House cookies, here is the recipe.

Nestle Toll House Chocolate Chip Cookie Recipe

2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon baking soda

1 teaspoon salt

1 cup (2 sticks, 1/2 pound) butter, softened

3/4 cup granulated sugar

3/4 cup packed brown sugar

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

2 eggs

2 cups (12-ounce package) NESTLE TOLL HOUSE Semi-Sweet Chocolate Morsels

1 cup chopped nuts (optional)

Combine flour, baking soda and salt in small bowl. Beat butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar and vanilla in large mixer bowl. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition; gradually beat in flour mixture. Stir in morsels and nuts. Drop by rounded tablespoon onto ungreased baking sheets.

Bake in preheated 375-degree Fahrenheit oven for 9 to 11 minutes or until golden brown. Let stand for 2 minutes; remove to wire racks to cool completely.

FOR HIGH ALTITUDE BAKING (>5,200 feet): Increase flour to 2 1/2 cups; add 2 teaspoonfuls water with flour; reduce both granulated sugar and brown sugar to 2/3 cup each. Bake at 375 degrees Fahrenheit, drop cookies for 8 to 10 minutes and pan cookies for 17 to 19 minutes.

Serve with Ice Cold Milk!!!!
