Going green using non-toxic cleaners
Every home should be the safest place for you and your family. A cleaning product should not leave behind more toxins than the toxins it's supposew to clean.
Learn how changing your regular cleaners to green non-toxic cleaners can not only be good for the earth but good for your whole family.
Pollution in the home can be 5 times higher than outdoors and a big part of that is due to what we use to "clean" our homes with.
Children are at Greater Risk for Chemical Exposures
Since a baby's immune system and metabolic pathways are immature, this affects their ability to metabolize, detoxify and excrete chemicals and counteract toxic challenges. In an adult, a blood-brain barrier insulates the brain from many of the potentially harmful chemicals circulating through the body. But in an infant, that barrier isn't fully developed so early exposures may be especially risky.
Children also have more time to develop chronic diseases triggered by early chemical exposures. Some diseases related to environmental toxins may require decades to develop. So exposure during childhood may increase the health ristks later in life.
Some scientists also believe that maternal exposure to toxic chemicals during pregnancy can have developmental consequences for the fetus. Since grouth is so rapid at this time, early toxic exposures may have a significant impact on further development.
Go Green for your health
In one decade, there has been a 42% increase in asthma (29% for men; 82% for women - the higher rate for women is believed to be due to women's longer exposure times to household chemicals).Asthma and Allergies strike 1 out of 4 Americans.
Hazardous chemical concentrations are 2-5 times higher inside our homes than outdoors.
You are not just "What You Eat", you are "What You Absorb" and digest as well.
There are many ways to ingest toxic household chemicals; ingestion doesn't have to occur by eating. The simple act of scrubbing the bathroom will subject us to inhaling some of the fumes given off by the products we use, by holding a cloth soaked with cleaning products we absorb up to 60% of that product through our skin.
As the cumulative effects of these foreign substances becomes apparent, our medical profession treats these symptoms of toxic overload with yet more poisons in the form of drugs or invasive treatment.
We have a lot more chemicals in our home than we realize. From how to clean our house to how we maintain our yard to the products we use everday. We can expose ourselves to a lot of chemicals without even realizing it. You can choose to change what you clean with everyday. It's amazing how something as simple as changing your cleaning products at home can give your life a breathe of fresh air.
I have suffered from allergies and sinus problems almost all my life. By removing all of the toxic household cleaning products from my home and replacing them with non-toxic, biodegradable, hypoallergenic cleaning products like Shaklee's "Get Clean". I am now almost allergy free and I do not suffer from sinus infections and respiratory problems that had kept me from enjoying my life.
If you want to start with the basics, try Shaklee's Basic H2 Organic Super Cleaning Concentrate. It's non-toxic, biodegradable, earth friendly, kid friendly, pet friendly, very economical and oh! did I say non-toxic too.

So you think your house is clean
Danger in our homes!More and more reports and tests are showing that regular household cleaners that we buy in the stores today can be very toxic for us.
Are we putting our children at risk without even realizing it?
Think of it this way. You wouldn't let your kids play with toxic chemicals, so why would you let the baby crawl over a floor that's just been wiped with them.
Many of the chemicals found in our homes are used to make our lives easier. But we don't realize the consequences of using many of these substances. Think before you pour waste down the sink. Only natural substances should be disposed in our sewer systems. Be wary and read labels. And whenever possible, use alternative non-toxic products that will curtail the destruction of the environment.
Just take a look at these statistics.
Over 90% of poison exposures happen at home.
Common chlorine bleach is the #1 household chemical involved in poisoning.
A person who spends 15 minutes cleaning scale off shower walls could inhale three times the "acute one-hour exposure limit" for glycol either-containing products set by the California Office of Environmental Health Harzard Assessment.
Common cleaners give off fumes that can potentially increase the risk of kids developing asthma, the most common chronic childhood disease.
If your home is anything like the average U.S. home, you generate more than 20 pounds of household hazardous waste each year(the EPA designates toilet cleaners, tub and tile cleaners, over cleaners, and bleach as hazardous waste.)
