How to prepare green tea the right way.

I've always known that green tea was healthy, but for a long time I couldn't bring myself to drink it. The taste was not appealing to me at all. Fortunately for me, it all changed when I learned how to brew it the right way. Now that I know how to make it tasty I drink it all the time and love it. It has become my favorite beverage for all seasons and times of the day. Follow the simple instructions from this page, try it and taste the goodness.

Where it came from...

Learn how I got a hold of this brewing recipe treasure.

A few years ago a "fatoholic" friend of mine was forced to face the music and had to visit a cardiologist due to a high bad cholesterol level. She is young, fit and thin, but can't resist fatty treats. The doctor put her on a special diet part of which was drinking six cups of green tea every day and he gave my friend the green tea brewing recipe that is the focus of this page. She loved the tea and gave it so much praise that I just had to try it. I was sceptical, given my previous dislike for the green tea, but it had me at first sip. I became a green tea fan in an instant.

As for my friend, her cholesterol dropped to a normal level and she hasn't had any problems with it since. She still drinks six cups of green tea every day.

There is a number of studies probing health benefits of green tea. It's said to prevent cancer, lower cholesterol, speed up metabolism and have many other positive effects on our bodies. Taking this to a personal level, I will write about my own experience with green tea. Here's a list of benefits I get from drinking green tea (in no particular order).

  • It calms me down

  • It lowers my heart rate and blood pressure

  • It makes my skin look good and healthy

  • It raises my energy level

  • It cheers me up

  • It balances my appetite

This list is incomplete as the benefits are so numerous, I couldn't possibly list them all. Try it and discover the rest by yourself.

How To Brew Green Tea

The recipe.

Ingredients:
- 4 cups of water
- 1 teaspoon of dry green tea leaves
- 1 lemon

Instructions:
Bring water to boil. Move the water away from the heat. Add the dry tea leaves and let them sit in the water for one minute only. Strain the tea off into another pot. You won't need the leaves any more. Let the tea cool until it's lukewarm. Squeeze juice out of one fresh lemon. Mix lemon with the tea. The tea is done. It couldn't be much easier than this.

You can drink the tea right away or leave it for later that day, but it's best if you only make as much tea as you can drink within few hours of making it.

Green Tea Tips

Preparation and consummation tips and tricks.

- Experiment with different brands of dry green tea leaves until you find the right one for you.
- While the water is heating up, prepare the tea and everything you'll need to strain the tea. Having everything at hand will prevent you from brewing the tea for too long.
- If you are in a hurry and can't wait for the tea to cool down naturally, fill a large pot with ice and cold water and put the pot with strained tea into the ice. Stir until the tea is lukewarm.

How often should you drink green tea and how much of it?

Adjust it to your lifestyle.

If possible and reasonable I try to avoid habits that enslave me, so I don't have any strict rules for drinking green tea. I drink it when I feel like it and as much as I feel like drinking. It makes me feel good, so I drink it often, but it doesn't have to be every day. When I do take it, it can be just one or it goes up to five cups in a day. I just go by the mood I'm in. That's what I recommend you do, too. Find your own formula and rhythm. Do what feels natural.
