Greenwood Lake Air Show at Greenwood Lake Airport, West Milford, NJ

Ranked #4,546 in Travel & Places, #133,904 overall | Donates to Soldiers Angels

The date for the 2012 Greenwood Lake Air Show and WWII Showcase in West Milford, NJ is Set

What a delightful surprise the first annual Greenwood Lake Air Show was when we attended in September of 2009, and from what I hear, the 2nd was even better...we were out of town during the 2010 show so missed it. The 2011 show took place in October thanks to Hurricane Irene, and the date for the 2012 Air Show is set, see the "countdown" below.

We have been to the airport many times over the years, taking our children when they were small to watch the planes take off, or sometimes my husband and I would go watch the small private planes from the car while enjoying quiet conversation. Then there is the little restaurant there, we have eaten there many times, but never would have imagined the place could come alive as it does when they host the Greenwood Lake Air Shows, featuring planes and exhibits from World War II, air acrobatics and so much more.

There was plenty to see, and plenty of food with concession stands set up throughout the area.

Do You Love Air Shows?

Have You Been to the GL Air Show?

My Dad loved old aircraft and was an Electrical Engineer in the aeronautics department of a large company designing parts for aircraft, and eventually the space program. My grandfather was a retired US Air Force Captain, so I suppose the love for aircraft is in the blood. I can't identify planes as well as I like to, but love to watch them. If we're at an air show in a location that can accommodate the large jets, I love the sound of the engines as they fly overhead...what a rush!

WWII Nose Art on Aircraft

Some years ago, I came across a photo from WWII and through it learned a bit about nose art because this photo showed a WWII pilot standing next to a plane with nose art. I searched on eBay, and found that there was quite a market for this, you may be interested in looking at some of the photos below, if there are any Nose Art photos available. (I sell old paper items, including vintage photographs, and am especially fond of the WWII era)
