Greeting Card History to Present on Zazzle
The history of the greeting card traces back to the ancient Chinese. They would send messages of good will for the New Year.
Europe began exchanging handmade paper greeting cards in the 1400s.
But it was in the 1850s that the commercialize greeting card transformed. This was due to the large advances with the printing press and the introduction of the postage stamp in 1840.
It was 1856 that Louis Prang, a German immigrant, started a small lithographic business near Boston. This small business is credited with the start of the greeting card industry in America.
Today Greeting cards have evolved. Customized greeting cards have gained popularity. Print-on-demand stores are thriving. Zazzle.com is one of these online stores. On Zazzle you can create your own unique greeting card or customize an existing one offered by the shopkeeper. My Zazzle shop - Sandyspider Gifts allows the customer to change the images, add their own text or take the greeting card and change it completely. Can you do this from a walk-in card shop?
