They made headlines around the world when Jackie O herself materialized to rescue her family from public disgrace.
They were then the subjects of a 1976 documentary by David and Albert Maysles.

- Watched Grey Gardens again the other night. Was just sitting here working and the Edies crossed my mind. Oh, they evoke so many different feelings in me! When Big Edie came down for her little birthday celebration, I wanted to cry. She was "dressed up" -- indicating to me that she wanted it to be like it was when they lived and thrived "in society." It just wasn't. Thanks for this page; I'm off to learn more from your links. Here's to Little Edie and Big Edie!
