Greyhound Angels - Keepsakes and Thoughtful Sympathy Gifts for the Loss of a Greyt Friend

Greyhounds are such sweet-natured dogs, they and angels just seem to go together quite naturally. Here you'll find a selection of greyhound angel ornaments and gifts that are ideal keepsakes and collectibles for anyone who loves a greyhound - or for someone who has loved and lost one.

The photo here is of my own first greyhound, gone to the Rainbow Bridge in August 2010.

Greyhound Angel Ornaments

A gold string for hanging makes these "Tiny Ones" 2-inch figurines the perfect decoration for a Christmas tree. Or remove the string if you want to display the angel dog on a shelf or mantle - or to use it as a cake topper. Stone resin cast figures are hand-painted for detail.

Yes, There's a Dark Brindle Greyhound Angel, Too

I find this brindle greyhound quite charming, but it is a very dark brindle. Admittedly, painting the complex stripe-y patterns of a brindle coat is not an easy task, and even more challenging if the dog is a very light brindle or silver brindle... but on the whole I think this particular greyhound doesn't quite match up to the fawn/tan, grey, and black-and-white models. At this low price, however, I'd be inclined to see what a touch of dry-brushing with some model paint would do to give the right effect. And, of course, if it is a dark brindle that you're honouring with an angel ornament, well then, this handsome fellow should do just fine.

Greyhound Angel Bell Ornament

Christmas Apple Bell Greyhound Angel Ornament - AmazonThis litte white greyhound has the typical inquisitive expression, perky ears, and big soft-looking eyes of our favourite dog - but wearing the golden-tipped wings of an angel.

Crafted in resin and metal, the ornament hangs from an apple-red ribbon to match the apple-shaped jingle bell the dog rests upon. Also available in white and gold, the whole ornament is approximately 3 inches tall.

Although this is intended as a Christmas ornament, there's nothing overtly "holiday" about the piece and it would make a lovely hanging decoration or keepsake for year-round display.

In association with Zazzle.comThe indie artists of Zazzle.com offer a number of products on the greyhound-angel theme, some of which are presented as fund-raisers for greyhound adoption groups. Here are just a few samples (in button pins), but I've also seen some really lovely coffee mugs and other small gift items with with original or vintage illustrations that would be appropriate sympathy gifts on the loss of a pet. It's worth taking a browse around Zazzle to see what catches your eye.

Vintage Angel with Greyhound Cards

There's something extra-appealing about the look of a greyhound in (or inserted into) a medieval illustration. Probably it is because of man's long association with greyhounds, going back to the desert tribes of course but more recently, in western European history, to the Middle Ages when every noble worth his salt would have kept a pack of lean hunting hounds. Indeed, under the Forest Laws of Great Britain it was illegal for commoners to own a greyhound, so prized were they, and the greyhounds' elegant images appear in many paintings, sculptures, and tapestries through the centuries. These lovely custom greeting cards are in that tradition.

Oh I LOVE these...the ornaments are gorgeous and the dog in the Greyhound And Angel print looks just like my Amber! (I am a slave to three Lurchers - greyhound crosses which are popular in the UK and Ireland). I love Sighthounds!
