Greyhound Pets of America in Maryland

Are you thinking about adopting a rescue dog with a sweet personality that will get along with children and other pets? Consider adopting a retired racing greyhound- greyhounds are an intelligent, adaptable breed of dog who surprisingly don't require a lot of room or strenuous exercise to live a happy life. I recently attended the Greyhound Pets of America annual reunion held at Oregon Ridge Park in Baltimore County and was impressed by how quiet and cheerful these canines can be. Join me on a photo essay of the 2009 GPA reunion and meet some of these charming dogs. Maybe you will decide to give a well deserving retired greyhound a loving home!

Greyhounds race into your life and are there for ever. I started two sites because of my involvement with fostering them. They make you want to get the word out about the need for adoptive homes for these beautiful dogs. The bonus is they shed lightly and they don't seem to have a doggy smell. I enjoyed the video too.

What great pictures, I had nothing to do with greyhounds until I worked at a pet store and they brought in 2 of the most beautiful little Italian greyhounds, they were the best puppies awesome personality's I can only assume they are a lot like the larger greyhounds...

This was a fun lens for me. Brings back so many memories. Some good some bad. Many years ago I worked at a vet clinic that bordered a greyhound track. We euthanized hundreds of hounds every season (horrible beyond words) We managed to find homes for some and I myself took 4. They were all wonderful dogs, though my group was not good with cats or small dogs. Other than that they were the best. All lived to be over 13. And everytime I see a greyhound it kinda tugs at my heart.

Your photos are wonderful! And so are these dogs. I just met three of them yesterday while out walking my own dog. So sweet and not at all aggressive towards my much smaller dog. I've never met a Greyhound who was anything BUT sweet-natured.
