Cast Iron Griddle

Do you cook your pancakes and waffles with cast iron?

  • jimmyworldstar Feb 8, 2012 @ 12:13 pm | delete
I'm more of a waffle fan, the syrup stays within the squares of the waffle while the pancakes just get all soggy from the syrup and mix in with the eggs and sausage or potatoes.

Another great lens by you! Blessed by a SquidAngel :)
  • miaponzo Jun 20, 2011 @ 1:04 am | delete
I don't.. but I would if I could get cast iron here in Kuwait.... .. :) I want a pancake mold!!!!
  • sheilamarie Mar 8, 2011 @ 12:46 pm | delete
Whenever I can, but I usually have more than one pan cooking my pancakes at a time. One of them is cast iron! We used to make our own maple syrup when we lived in Quebec, and bought our syrup from neighbors when we lived in Vermont.
I just discovered your lens on my Mardi Gras quest, Evelyn, and am delighted with it! I've lensrolled this lens to my pancakeandwafflerecipes lens.
  • rwoman Nov 15, 2010 @ 11:04 am | delete
I never cook waffles and I have an electric griddle for pancakes
  • Margo_Arrowsmith Nov 15, 2010 @ 6:36 am | delete
I cook waffles with one of those fancy Belgian waffle makers because I can't cook pancakes and it is so easy with them.
  • TeamSTM Oct 29, 2010 @ 2:21 pm | delete
I am a Pancake Lover but I do like a good ol' fashion Belgian Waffle with the works!!
  • hotbrain Oct 27, 2010 @ 11:24 am | delete
Thanks for the great tips and recipes on this lens. I think maybe I've been stirring my pancake batter too much! It's good to know that I can leave some lumps in it! I want fluffy soft pancakes! I lensrolled your page on my lens about my favorite easy pancakes recipe.
  • Tipi Oct 8, 2010 @ 12:49 pm | delete
Wonderful lens Evelyn. You got me hungry now. Guess I'll just have to fix some breakfast. Haven't eaten yet today....
  • waterlesscookwareguy Aug 22, 2010 @ 10:22 am | delete
I personally love french toast with tons of butter and maple syrup. I usually cook the bread in a with my waterless cookware set with the cover on which helps keep the french toast nice and fluffy. Maybe I'll have some waffles this weekend, this lens has me thinking about waffles and pancakes.
  • Kimsworld Apr 6, 2010 @ 9:16 am | delete
I wasn't hungry when I started reading this lens, but I am now! What a great lens about pancakes and waffles. Yum!
  • JaguarJulie Dec 10, 2009 @ 2:05 pm | delete
Gosh ... working with one hand ... there is no flipping pancakes anytime soon ... but i sure do love waffles.
  • Evelyn_Saenz Dec 10, 2009 @ 6:03 pm | delete
One of the great things about Waffles is that they don't need to be flipped. Just pull them out with a fork and pour the syrup.
  • BigToyz May 25, 2009 @ 8:21 am | delete
Meh, waffles, French toast, pancakes, whatever... just gimme a galllon of real maple syrup to guzzle!! XD

Fantastic lens; I love your daughter's video. I am lensrolling your page to my two new ones -- Polly's Pancake Parlor and The Best-Ever Buttermilk Pancake Recipe.

We should have a taste off -- Vermont versus Canadian maple syrup. I know who would win!

I couldn't vote in your first poll, because I make my own syrup: about half butter, half honey, melted together (a little more butter than honey). NOTHING can beat it! Especially with a few chopped walnuts tossed in ... mmmmmm ... 5***** for a very tasty lens!

Now those are show cheeky looking waffle shoes -- would make a great costume accessory. So who is Fancy Nancy and Ms. Frizzle?? ;)
  • Margo_Arrowsmith Sep 8, 2008 @ 1:04 pm | delete
My mother used to make these tiny little 'silver dollar' pancakes. You'd have to eat a bunch of them and it was like, well, I can't describe it. I wish I had the recipe.

I'm so hungry now I've seen your fabulous pancakes and waffles. My goodness, the potato cakes take me back to childhood. Although our family isn't Irish they were something we had from time to time and we thought they were such a big treat, served with butter melting on them.

Good lens and recipes. I usually cheat and use the complete mix recipes. (The just add water, etc). I try to save some time since I spend a lot of it cleaning the waffle iron when I am done. I will try your recipe in this lens. My kids are big fans of the mickeymouse waffle.

Who knew I could get more iron by eating waffles? Another reason to indulge, as though I needed one!
  • LeslieBrenner Feb 29, 2008 @ 3:58 pm | delete
Here's a pancake ditty to go along with flipping them, which my family used to sing on Sunday mornings when I was a kid:
Pancakes cooking on a just right griddle
Bubbles popping means tender in the middle
Grab your knife and fork and spoon
We're going to have pancakes pretty soon.
  • Lilly Feb 14, 2008 @ 1:11 pm | delete
