Griffin vs Franklin will be the co-headliner status under an expected title fight between middleweight champ Anderson Silva and Vitor Belfort.
Before knocking out Chuck Lidell in his recent outing, Franklin dropped two of three with a split-decision defeat to Dan Henderson and a TKO loss to Vitor Belfort. A unanimous-decision win over Wanderlei Silva took place between the two defeats.

"The Ultimate Fighter 1" winner was scheduled to fight Antonio Rogerio Nogueira at UFC 114 but backed out after sustaining a shoulder injury. Griffin, will be seeing in action for the first time since a November 2009 split-decision win over Tito Ortiz. The win came after two straight losses against Rashad Evans (in a title fight) and Anderson Silva.
