Keep your grill island looking good.

Is your outdoor kitchen looking a little weathered? Like most outdoor furniture, time and the elements take their toll on them which cause them to deteriorate.

Although grill islands are built to last for years, they are not designed to look new forever. But if they are well maintained, they will keep their luster and appeal, which is very important when you are entertaining guests.

The easiest way to keep your island, the appliances and accessories looking like new is to purchase a grill island cover. In the meantime, here are a few simple tips to give your outdoor kitchen a minor facelift:

Grill Island Face-lift Tips

  1. For the grill and other stainless steel material that show wear from the outdoor elements, consider using, one of the following: water and a cloth, mild detergent, warm water and cloth, glass cleaner for fingerprints, or a paste made of baking soda.

(Remember to clean a small, unnoticeable section first to ensure that the cleaner doesn't damage the stainless steel.)

After rinsing the cleaning agent, polish the stainless steel with a good stainless steel cleaner.
  2. For cleaning the island's siding, purchase or rent a high pressured sprayer to rinse off any build up on the stone or stucco sides. Be aware that this may peel away any loosened stucco or stone pieces.
  3. For chipped or cracked tile and grout, check your local home improvement store for replacement material and for tips on replacing a cracked or chipped tile.

These tips will work for most people, however, if your island is beyond a minor facelift and is in dire need of some renovation, such as grill replacement, a fresh coat of stucco, or a new countertop, and you live in the Los Angeles area then check out LA Custom Grill Islands to renew your existing island.

They offer over 100 stucco colors, a variety of different manufacturers' accessories to replace or swap out your appliances, and unlimited tile and granite options.
