Enjoy Grilling More with Quality Grill Tools

I love to cook on a grill, and it's a lot more enjoyable with a set of high quality grill tools. Grill tools have a harder existence than normal kitchen utensils and need to be made sturdier in order to last. Since grilling is usually done over very hot coals or open flame, quality grill tools will be long enough to keep your hands away from the heat. Because they are used (and sometimes stored) outside, grill tools should be constructed from heavy gauge stainless steel for durability and to prevent rust. Use of plastic or wood should be minimal. Finally, you should choose the grilling tools that are most useful for you and avoid spending money on something that looks nice and fancy but isn't useful.

The Advantage of Grilling

Grilling your food brings several advantages

Besides being a lot of fun, cooking your food on the grill offers several advantages. During the summer, cooking on the grill can help you save on energy costs because you're not heating up your house by using the stove or oven. Because grilling is usually done at much higher temperatures than cooking on the stove or in the oven, cooking time is much shorter. Grilled meat tends to retain less fat than meat cooked by other methods so it's healthier for you. And of course there is the distinctive flavor of grilled food that is difficult or impossible to duplicate by other cooking methods...

Basic Grill Tools

The foundation of your Grill Tool Set

A basic set of grilling tools should include a spatula, grill fork, and tongs for putting food on the grill and turning it. I really like the Weber Professional Grade 3-Piece Barbecue Tool Set. The tools are made from heavy gauge stainless, they have hanging loops on the handles for easy storage, and the 18" handles are plenty long enough to keep your hands away from the heat of the grill. Another grill tool set that looks promising is the Ranchmark Grill Control BBQ Stand, Tools, and Drip Pan. While I haven't tried this set myself, it gets excellent reviews at Amazon. It includes a spatula, tongs, grill fork, and silicon baster. The tools all hang from the included carry/storage stand that includes a removable drip pan. If my Weber set ever wears out (doubtful!), I'm going to give the Ranchmark set a try.
