Love those. They are as cute as the one's I saw on www.qps-pets.co.uk. I find the baths are really good to wash them off in the garden

Sebastian (1 1/2 yo 74lb goldendoodle) and I would like to thank you for all of your hard work. I've been struggling with the same issues..."what is the best/right way." Sebastian returned from his third professional grooming in his lifetime with weeping razor burns from the "cleanliness trim." Needless to say I was beside myself. Again, Thank You! Thank You!

We have a large golden doodle named Moki, we live in Arizona, and it is getting pretty hot out there. Moki's hair has gotten so thick, is there anyway we can thin it out or what is the best recommendation for trimming it. We went the the groomers in town they say shave it all off, well, then he will get sunburned. We spend alot of time at the lake so that won't work. We need a tool that can thin out the bulk of the thickness but leave the curls we love so much, is there any such tool??

We have a Doodle, Maddeline. 2 1/2 years old She is a great joy. Super smart. My husa
band has started grooming her. We are just gettting started on the right equipment. She jumps right in the tub when told and is a good girl during her bath. She even shakes when told! I feel the same about the hair and dog smell. She gets bathed at least every two weeks. We are debating on the best clippers right now. I would like to know what you use. I know they get pricey, but we want to be correct from the start.
Thanks for taking the time to write about your big, fluffy boy!
I hope he brings you as much joy as Maddy does us.

Don't go cheap!!! Ask several groomers what they use. Trust me you will be happier in the long-run. Our 9 month old is 67 lbs and would now cost over $100 per grooming session. My husband purchased the $45ish Oster clippers. The blade covers that measure length of hair don't stay on because of the curl underneath. I ended up clipping her without the blade guard much like you would cut a child's hair, using my fingers to measure. First try was not the "best" I'd like to see but with practice, it's gotten much easier. Plus my husband actually combs her every day with a metal toothed comb. Good luck!

I love the pictures of Apollo! What a great dog. I have Guinness, a one year old goldendoodle. He is tiny compared to yours at only 63 lbs. I have been struggling with mats in his fur, try to brush him once or twice a week and obviously that is not enough. We also live in Arizona but we bath him inside all the time, with 2 other dogs there is too much distraction outside. Do you know if it is even possible to brush out a mat once he has them? Or should I just have him groomed all the way down and start from scratch? They aren't horrible because he does get a bath and a brushing once a week but as his fur gets longer the mats appear faster and faster. Thanks

    Hi
We live in a remote part of Western Australia with Bundy our beautiful Groodle ( that is what we call goldendoodles here)
I am unsure of whether to clip or scissor cut Bundy as have heard that clipping can ruin their coat. any feedback will be appreciated.
    Thanks

i just had to have my 10 month goldendoodle shaved because of matting which cost $110. After the sticker shock i've decided to try and groom and clip him myself from now on. i found your information very useful. exactly what clippers do you recommend? Also, do you have one of those straps that goes around there necks to keep them still? I can't imagine him holding still for me, any tricks?

I just got my adorable 10month old Goldendoodle back from the groomer with a BAD Hair cut! She was pretty matted, so maybe there was no option.... how long will it take to grow back!

    Help

Thank you - we have a 110 lb. doodle with a very thick curly poodle coat. He is a gem!!! This was very helpful - we are working towards personally grooming him. Getting there.. step by step. I like to work at each step until I am confident which allows 'Kodie" to be confident as well. Team work!!! We have tackled, bathing, brushing , face and eye washing and ear cleaning... now on to clipping !! :)

What a cute pooch! I never knew about the towel over the head before either, learn something new all the time. ;)

Love the photos! What a cute pooch. And IF my pooch had much hair, I'd follow your suggestions. But my Sassafrass Tea (aka Sassy) has barely enough hair to brush. Still, I love the lens. Well done!

Great information and beautifully presented! 5*s!!!

I have 2 wheaten terriers, and I HAVE to comb & brush them all the way through or their hair gets matted quicky. By the way, the "harness thing" you mentioned is simply called a "grooming harness" and it is very handy.
