Gross Toys And Slimy Science - What Could Be More Fun For Kids!

Gross, yuck, eeww, icky, these are the word I hear from my kids as they laugh their way through learning with gross toys and slimy science projects. If you follow any of my writings, you know we are a bit unconventional. Our girls are home educated, and we always have fun. And our brand of fun generally involves laughter along with learning. So, we invest our time and money in projects that we, as parents, know are educational, but that the kids see as fun. So our latest slimy science project may just be called one of the gross toys by the kids.

If you are a clean freak, a neat fanatic or one who only likes conventional classic educational toys, then this collection of gross toys may not be for you. But, if you are like us, and you are not afraid to stick your hands into something slimy, smelly, gooey or otherwise disgusting, (under the guise of education), than come along and see what I have found.

What Makes "Be Amazing Yuck" the Perfect Science Project

and the perfect gift:

We love this kit. Our kids have so much fun creating the gross science projects, they forget that it is an educational tool. However, while they were making the gross things in the kit, they were also:
  • Learning about the capabilities of polymers
  • Discovering nasty little bacteria that live in the house
  • Growing bacteria in their own Petri dish
  • And so much more . . . I don't want to give away all the surprises.

Slime Science - Another in this Series of Gross Toys

Learn the science behind ooey, gooey, ooze!

This slimy science kit uses some common household items to make 5 different kinds of slime.

A review from a happy Amazon customer:
My son spends hours making different types of slime and loves to measure the ingredients (which makes this more than just a fun toy). I love seeing him concentrate to make each type, and then watching how proud he is of himself when it turns out like it should (although that doesn't always happen!).

"Create the creepiest, craziest doodles around on this delightfully disgusting monster. There are more than 10 hidden gross monster parts in all, including pop-out eyes, spilling guts, and a removable tongue, brain and teeth. Shut off the lights to see his teeth and eyes glow. Inkee comes with three washable markers that have special tool caps to assist in pulling apart and playing. Hand and machine washable for a different doodle every time. Inkee measures 15" tall.

What do kids say about this gross toy? Excerpts from Amazon reviews:
"Very clever idea and all pull-out body parts are attached, so no chance of losing anything. it comes with three markers and surgical tools."
"My niece is 7 and has had hours of fun playing with the doodle monster. You can draw on it with washable markers and wash it in the washing machine in a pillow case. Yes it's gross and you can take his brain out or do surgery on him but that's why she likes the toy."
"My 6 year old son loves his gross out monster...something this gross & silly is right up his alley."
"A lot of people complain about how nasty these things are, but frankly its just good fun. I bought one for my son for Christmas and he loves it. Very cool toy."

Totally Gross The Game

Winner of iParenting Media Award

A review from an Amazon customer:
My oldest son, age 10, along with his best friend, 10, started playing this game. Within minutes, they were in hysterics, doing the things the game told them to do and learning all the way. My 8 year old son joined in and he too had a blast. The questions challenged them to think about things differently, to try out new things, and of course, to use science as part of their everyday life. The directions were easy to understand, the board itself a visual delight, the goop an added bonus (as far as they were concerned) and the resulting laughter was worth every penny spent on this game. I recommend it highly--so does my son who wants to purchase it as a birthday present for his other friends!

I think I might be insane, but I might try this with my co-op class next week. We are doing the digestive system next week. Hey, we did Slime Science (which I made a Squidoo lens about) a few years ago. It can't be any messier than that. Thanks for doing all the work for me. :)
