You've created the perfect group and want to tell the world. It has plenty of interesting lenses with modules pointing to the best Squidoo has to offer.
How do you get people to notice when hundreds of groups are being created every week? How do you stand out from the crowd.
Here are some ideas.
Host a Challenge
You can judge them yourself or let visitors vote using the poll module. You could even use LensRank.
The prizes can be as simple as promising to place their lens on the main page. People love to see their work recognized and will participate.
After you create your challenge make sure and publicize it...
Some Examples
- The Banned Book Club
- Create a lens about your favorite author. It could be Stephen King, JK Rowling or Seth Godin. Who knows, your favorite author might even be... you!
We will run a poll through October for people to vote on their favorite author lens. The winning lens will get placement at the top of the page during November.
Note: To be included in the poll add your lens to the group by Friday October 6, 2006 and send me an email asking to be in the contest. - The Directors Chair Challenge
- Make a new lens for THE DIRECTOR'S CHAIR and win a feature spot for the month of November!
That's right... create a new lens, all about your favorite HORROR FILM DIRECTOR, and join the Director's Chair group by October 21st. The lenses will then be voted on by the members of the group and the Squidoo readership at large, with voting closing on Oct 31st. The winner will receive a featured placement on this page for the month of November plus a special commemorative graphic. - The Book Club Challenge

Tell the World
Put a link to your group with a short description in your email, or forum, signature. If you have a blog, announce your group and your contests on your blog.
Read on to see some Squid-specific places to make announcements.
Announce Your Groups and Contests
- SquidU Lensmaster Lounge
- If you don't already participate, the SquidU forum is a great place to make announcements as well as get (and give) help. There is a section to discuss groups and another to announce challenges and contests.
- Success with Squidoo
- Kimberly set up this myspace group, in part, to be a place to announce new groups, contests, etc.
- Squidoo Lens Reviews
- Jeffry set up this app as a place to review lenses or groups. Review some lenses and add your own lens or group to be reviewed.
Add Your Ideas
There are a gazillion ways to promote your group. Add your ideas here. (There is a prize for the person who makes the gazillionth post.)
