How and why you should create a Lensography Lens

Lensography is a way of promoting all of your Lenses and groups from a single Lens. You can then add this single lens to a group for all Lensographies.

What is Lensography?

Firstly I am a follower and the names Lensography, Groupography and Plexography have already been created by other Lensmasters.

So using the word Lensography as the main definition, I will try to explain in my own words what it means, and more especially how it can help and benefit you and your Lens.

There are thousands of groups on Squidoo, and after you have created a Lens, the first thing you will do is join a group. After a few weeks you will possibly make a second, third or more Lens and join other groups. The more you create the more widespread your Lens are. Most people stop at this point. Remember, using a Blog can be a major benefit

Master Template

So here are my suggestions to get you going.

1. Create a new Lens with possibly 1 or 2 text modules and a few Links Plexo. You get these from the add module then select "Search (A-Z) click on L and then select Links Plexo.

2. Delete all modules you do not need and then create your template text. You can use this basic Lens as your layout.

3. Now create lists of your groups and Lenses.

4. What is important at this time is to add a description of each group or Lens so that visitors exactly understand the contents when they go to the link.

5. When you are ready, publish and wait until it has been accepted, then join the group for all Lensographiers. Then add your Lens to the group listing that your Lensography Lens listed under.

6. This is important. Add to every Group and Lens you own a link to your Lensography Lens. This way anybody visiting any of your groups or Lens can visit all your other efforts. Don't forget the link to your website if you have one.

Setting the Links Plexo options

When you create your lists you should not allow other people to add to your list, same goes for the the voting option. Just be careful what you allow.

This method can be more useful

Using the Featured Lens module shows better what your group or Lens looks like. A maximum of 5 is allowed, so this is also a good method to increase the number of modules you use.

Small but useful Lensography tips

Creating Lenses and organising groups at the same time can be a problem. When you are logged in, if you open a second window and type in http://www.squidoo.com/group/show it will let you move around all your Lenses and Groups as normal, but you still have your original window open.

This is great for cut and pasting and checking on link information. One of the reasons to own a Lensography is to promote all your Lenses and Groups from a single page, another reason is to help boost your overall PageRanking. If you also create a Squidoo page on your normal website, this also helps.
