Happy at Home

Happy at Home is a place for Christian homeschoolers to share ideas and materials so we can all continue to stay "happy at home". We'll feature appropriate curriculli, field trip ideas, craft/art ideas, and ways to stay motivated.

*****Note***** In the near future (ie. before Thanksgiving 2007), I will be making some serious improvements in this group page. So, Please stay tuned! EDIT on November 6th OK, so I lied. It wasn't intentional! During all of November I will cranking out a novel for NaNoWriMo and my novel features a large HOMESCHOOLING FAMILY. WOOOT! So I won't be tweaking this site until sometime in December between schooling and shopping and cleaning and baking and paryting and, um...Hmmm. Maybe I'll fix it in January instead. In the meantime, be sure to visit all the group members. They've provided some fantastic ideas for homeschooling!

A word from our moderator...

Greetings to all my fellow champions of home education! It is my hope that this group can be used to help all of us locate inexpensive curriculum options and fun ways to connect with other homeschoolers for support and encouragement.

So take off your shoes and jump in. The pond is large, the water is lovely, and the more the merrier!

Let's get to know one another!

Please introduce yourself and give us some feedback!

We'd love to hear about you! How large is your family? What curriculum do you use? How long have you homeschooled? What would you like to see featured in this group?

I home schooled my only son for a year and a half, through a partial year in the forth grade and all of his fifth grade years. This was seven years ago, and living in a small town, there were not many like us. I felt very alone in my quest. It is so nice to see you all forming this group. It will be so beneficial to each of you to have the moral support and ideas.

The best of luck to all of you!

My apologies to those of you who "blurbed" many moons ago. I didn't know that all your blurbs were hiding in queu waiting for my blessing! I approved about 800 of them today. My kingdom for a brain!

Thank you for including Woodchucks: How much learning could a Woodchuck teach if a Woodchuck could teach school in your group. We promise to stay out of your garden and spend our time instead reading all the great lenses in this group.

We have five kids, and it's great! We have home schooled since 1993, and use the Charlotte Mason method, see my lens at:

Thank you for accepting Garner Rix and the Royalton Raid into your group. My kids love doing reenactments, making costumes and trying out skills used in other times and places.
