Apathy is the quickest step to destroying democracy! Our actions and inactions have a direct effect on our fate and that of the rest.
Democracy is in danger because fear is clouding our judgment and making us turn the other way when our rights and liberties become compromised for the sake of security. I've always believed that quality of life is far more important than quantity of life. Living in fear and foregoing our freedom is certainly not quality. The more power and control over us we give to others, the more responsible we are for our own misery and shortcomings. That is why we must get involved in the politics that shape our social environment. We must have the courage to hold those we put in office accountable for their actions, inactions, and decisions that affect the quality of life in our nation. We elect officials to office to represent us and watch over our best interests as citizens. They are supposed to be serving us, not the other way around. Don't forget to vote!
