Eyes on the Skies Astronomy Group

Events, objects and phenomena from NEOS (Near Earth ObjectS) to deep space. We're sticking strictly with the left-brain here: Sciences of Astronomy, Meteorology etc. (Ain't knockin' it but, no woo-woo stuff here.)

RSS News Feeds from:
ESA, IAU, JPL, NASA, Slacker Astronomy and Project SETI
(Hey, I just said no woo-woo stuff, I didn't say it would be boring!).

"The Right Stuff"

Our Own Little Solar System

Calling all Astronomers, Skywatchers and Stargazers!

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Now I know a lot of you are more the lone maverick type, but its still nice to get together once in a while to hang out and exchange ideas, information and experiences. (Don't worry, we won't camp out on your lawn to stargaze, unless you intive us!)

Want to ADD YOUR LENS to THIS GROUP?
PLEASE READ THIS FIRST:
Important Lensmaster Info Link!!!

Show us you've got the "Right Stuff" and you can be an "Eyes on the Skies" Group Member with benefits galore!

(Hint: content, content, content is KEY if you want to see your lens here. A boring laundry list o' links just won't do. Make it intereting, informative and personalized! Toss in some photos. C'mon, NASA & Hubble have plenty and they're all copyright free! The mind is great, but show us some heart & soul too!)

"Imagination is more important than knowledge. For knowledge is limited to all we now know and understand, while imagination embraces the entire world, and all there ever will be to know and understand."

You remind me I need to fix the sight on my TeleVue and get my lazy astronomy buff butt back into action.

I have a lens that doesn't quite fit, because it's mostly an excuse to geek about old shuttle missions and space patches, but y'all might like my NASA Patches (and space-related stuff) lens reminiscing on my own experiences with the space program.

Slacker Astronomy - A Fresh Perspective

You know you love it!

Now these guys really know how to have fun!

"Astronomy news and slack as told by professional astronomer
slackers. Bad humor, sci-fi jokes and clips are the norm. And since this is their day job, they often cover stories not picked up in the mainstream press and also respect the intelligence of the audience."

Think Carl Sagan meets Dr. Who on Car Talk!

Pluto - What is it?

What do you think Pluto is?

Poor Pluto has really been through a lot. After 76 years of full planetary status, he's been put through the wringer of definition.

(You can read the new definition of planet in the "Final Press Release from the 26th GA IAU" in the module below.)
