What is ALS?
Many patients with ALS die of respiratory failure or respiratory illnesses they can't fight off. The current statistics say that most die within 3-5 years of onset of symptoms, while a small number live 10 or more years. So little is known about ALS that new information comes out all the time - unfortunately, none of it includes a cure.
