Finding a Way Around the eBay Digital Products Ban

Do you often sell digital products through eBay?

If so then you would not be alone. Hundreds of sellers make their profits through eBay selling downloadable products. However, as you should now be aware, eBay has banned all sellers from selling digital products through their website. Now many sellers still risk getting suspended from the site as they would rather try and make profit from something that sells than earn nothing at all.

However, you really do not have to risk being suspended if you still want to sell your digital products through eBay - there are ways around it.

Avoiding The Ban

Not many people actually understand why eBay placed a ban on selling downloadable products. It seems that eBay thought that by selling cheap Ebooks for example, feedback ratings would not be as accurate as they could be. They argue that by selling cheap books, it could cause that seller to have hundreds of positive ratings which are misleading. They also say that counterfeit downloadable products are being sold and so the ban is to prevent this from happening.

Whatever their reasons, the ban came into effect on the 29th April within the UK and 31st March within America. It basically means no matter what downloadable product you are listing, whether it is a recipe, an Ebook or a wholesale list, it is now against eBay rules to sell anything downloadable through the website.

So just how can you get around this ban? Well it is actually quite simple - offer your downloadable product on a DVD or a CD. That way nothing is downloadable. You simply place the Ebook onto a DVD and send it through the post to the buyer. The same can be done with anything downloadable - just place it onto a disc and send it through the post.

Another option you have is to get another company to create CDs and DVDs for you. Many people find it a struggle trying to burn anything onto a disc. If you are unsure as to how to do it then you can outsource the work to a specialized company. They may even be able to ship the product out for you if you would prefer that option. Or you could have the product sent back to you and you could then send it to the buyer yourself. If you do choose another company to do the work for you, it can actually save you a lot of time. So it is definitely an option worth considering.

Overall the new ban has really slowed down business for many eBay sellers. However there is a way around the digital ban and that is to follow the advice given within this article. By simply placing your downloadable products onto a DVD, it will help you to still sell your products through eBay and keep your business running.
