Blu-Ray Headquarters

This optical storage technology is the new-found reigning champion over its predecessor, DVD. Beating out its now faded rival in February 2008: HD-DVD, Blu-Ray discs offer sharper image (on relative television sets) and better sound quality. This format was successfully launched as the driving force technology behind the Playstation 3 video game console.

Blank Blu-Ray discs are superior to regular DVDs, as they hold 25 GB of space as a single-sided Blu-Ray, and double that amount as a double-sided disc. Blu-Ray burners are commonly found in any computer hardware supplier, whether online or brick-and-mortar.

Blu-Ray burners are not commonly found as of yet, as DVD burners (the replacement of the VCR, and alternative to those who aren't interested in subscribing to TiVO) is still a relatively new and expensive technology.

Today, Blu-Ray technology is still under heavy development. A quad-layer disc and other advanced formats are still in their testing phases.
