Celtic Music: Traditional & Contemporary
This group features Celtic music from Ireland, Scotland, Wales, Brittany, Galicia, North America and anywhere else it has taken root. It's for performers, music styles, instruments, shows like Riverdance and Celtic Woman, radio programs and stations and other resources for Celtic music. From traditional groups like The Chieftains, Altan and the Battlefield Band to the Wicked Tinkers, Flogging Molly and the Dropkick Murphys, show off your Celtic Music lenses!A Word from the Groupmaster
Let's see where this group goes
Hi, I'm MobyD. Since April 2008 I've been building lenses about Celtic music. I know I'm not the only one, but I haven't seen a group dedicated to it, so here it is.I favor traditional Celtic music, but other flavors such as New Age, punk and contemporary are welcome. This group isn't the place for pop singers and bands who just happen to come from Ireland, Scotland or other Celtic lands, unless they release a Celtic-oriented CD. Sinéad O'Connor, for instance, is considered a pop performer, but I have a lens for her Sean-Nós Nua CD.
The following categories for featured lenses are:
1. Featured Celtic Music Lenses
2. Irish Traditional Music Lenses
3. Irish Contemporary Music Lenses
4. Scottish Traditional Music Lenses
5. Scottish Contemporary Music Lenses
6. Welsh Music Lenses
7. Traditional Celtic Music from North America
8. Contemporary Celtic Music from North America
9. Celtic Radio and Other Resources
There's a limit of five lenses to each Featured Lens module, so when necessary, I'll add additional modules with titles like "More Irish Traditional Music Lenses." The order in which lenses appear in each module appears to be arbitrary. It's not the order or reverse order in which I enter them. The Featured/Fresh Lensmasters modules also list only five, and again the order seems arbitrary.
As of August 2008, I've created 26 Celtic music lenses and 9 video showcases, so most of the lenses in the group are mine. I definitely want to see lenses from other lensmasters and will be sure to include them in the right categories as soon as possible. If you think I've categorized them wrong, please let me know.
Be sure to submit your Celtic music lenses and join the discussion!

Celtic Music: Boys of the Lough
