Classic Children's Educational Programs
Somehow the newer educational programs for children that they show on TV just don't measure up to the ones I grew up with. When you compare the old shows like Sesame Street, Captain Kangaroo, and The Electric Company with newer ones like Barney, Teletubbies, and Blues Clues you will quickly see that the classic programs have much more educational as well as entertainment value.
Programs like Barney and Teletubbies are especially superficial and to me they lack any value at all except that they may attract your child's attention due to the colors and sounds. The earlier children's programs were both entertaining and educational.
On shows like Sesame Street, Captain Kangaroo and The Electric Company viewers were presented with detailed skits that were written and performed to teach as well as to entertain.
