del.icio.us Networking Group at Squidoo

Del.icio.us Group: This bookmarking service is actually an invaluable marketing and promotions tool. Join in and "friend" other del.icio.us members to boost your network - it's a great way to get your favorite sites or your personal and business websites seen! This group will maintain a list where its members can post and share their del.icio.us network links for mutual link building. Everybody is invited to join and submit lenses of any kind, although our main focus is, of course, del.icio.us. If you like this group, try the StumbleUpon group, too!

The Purpose of this Group

Unlike traditional Squidoo groups which solely gather links for a given topic, the main focus of this group is to increase your network at del.icio.us. Read the instructions below, and then add your network link to the list. Everyone is encouraged to add everyone else to their networks, in turn.

In doing so, we'll be increasing the threshold of how many people can see our bookmarked sites. Create a good enough list, and you can actually work up a high Google page rank for your del.icio.us profile - profiles gradually gain higher page ranks as they have more and more links pointing toward them, which in turn pass on their importance to the sites they point to (such as yours)!

Pros and Cons of del.icio.us

In short, del.icio.us has great visibility, is another great tool in your web promotion arsenal, and is perhaps the most widely used social bookmarking service on the internet!

[+] It's another free way to build traffic
[+] It's the most popular bookmarking service
[+] It has great search engine visibility
[+] It can rank high for some keywords and funnel traffic to your site
[+] It is a good way to get your brand new websites cached on Google
[+] It's one of the only bookmarking services that allows you to create unlimited tags per submission

[-] It is a "nofollow" service (the links will not pass influence or page rank to your site)

How to Share or Join a del.icio.us Network

Don't have a del.icio.us account? It's free! Simply sign up here.

1) Post the link to your network. Since we can't post javascript here (and therefore cannot use the del.icio.us badge), post a link to your network so that others can visit you and join in. The link hierarchy is: : http://del.icio.us/YourDeliciousScreenName/network

2) In order for others to join your network, or for you to join theirs; they must visit that link and click the "add (screenname) to your network" link on the upper left.

3) That's it! With more people in your network, your links have more of a reach than they did before! (Tip: did you add all of your Squidoo links to your del.icio.us account?)

Add del.icio.us Buttons to Your Site!

» del.icio.us Linkrolls tool
» ShareThis (includes a del.icio.us button)
» AddThis (includes a del.icio.us button)

How do you know if someone has mutually added you to their del.icio.us network?

When you've added someone to your network and they've added you to theirs, their screenname will have a symbol with a circle made of two arrows. If you've added them and they haven't added you, you'll see a gray circle with an "X" in it (see the screenshot on the right).

Remember common courtesy: Add first, then be added! If you haven't been added by someone on your list, be sure to send them a note. It's most likely a situation where they haven't checked their network list. It's a good practice to check your network page at least once a week, to make sure that all of your connections are mutual.

TIP: Like anything else on the net, the more prominent del.icio.us users will start to run a higher page rank than others. It's good to be friends with these people, because their accounts are more likely to get visibility and quicker spidering by search engines.

Del.icio.us Member List

Post your network link to share it, and add everyone else to yours!

Post your del.icio.us network link here. Everyone is encouraged to add themselves to as many networks as possible (I'll be sure to add everyone!)

Remember, you must log in to del.icio.us first (or the network link won't show), then add your link to this list. The link should look like: http://del.icio.us/YourUserName/network. Once you've added someone, "vote up" their link so that you can keep track of who you've already added.

oops - is it possible, that delicious will set quidoo bookmarks as "private"??? I bookmarked and tagged my squidoo-site at delicious, but that bookmark is not public. Other websites are accepted.....
So does mister-wong.de, a german social bookmarking service: Some squidoo sites are accepted, some not... I dont know the reason....
