What are Ethics?

Ethics is a broad topic encompassing a code of morality that is employed in a given situation: work, organizations, clubs and other affiliations.

Business ethics encompasses the measures that a corporation takes to adequately train its staff on correct ethical procedures in the workplace. These behaviors cover the way employees treat colleagues and clients, as well as the way they report malpractice and potentially illegal behavior. This involves compliance to standards set forth by the Sarbanes-Oxley act of 2002, U.S. Federal Sentencing Guidelines Procedures, sexual harassment, gender and religious bias laws, and other infractions that can harm a corporation's reputation.

All of these procedures are an important part of ethics training - which is quickly becoming the new necessity in today's business world. Read more about employing a proper ethics training program for your corporation.

Ethics seems like something that is something of little concern to the 'red in tooth and claw' business person. The issue is that the world is more a village than ever before and treating people badly, suppliers, customers, co-workers is a bad idea for sustainable and long term business.
