Welcome to HAPPY AT HOME!!

Happy at Home is a place for Christian homeschoolers to share ideas and materials so we can all continue to stay "happy at home". We'll feature appropriate curriculli, field trip ideas, craft/art ideas, and ways to stay motivated.

A word from our moderator...

Greetings to all my fellow champions of home education! It is my hope that this group can be used to help all of us locate inexpensive curriculum options and fun ways to connect with other homeschoolers for support and encouragement.

This group consists of dozens and dozens of high quality lenses that can help you in your homeschooling journey. Some are teaching sites that will help you explore reading or geography or science in fun and interesting ways. (I don't know about your kids, but mine highy approve of "fun and interesting"!)

Others have terrific craft ideas or links to resources. And still others deal more with the ins-and-outs of pedagogical whys-and-wherefores. (ie. Why folks homeschool and the methods they use to do so.)

I am going to attempt to arrange them here so you can just CLICK and go visiting, but I warn you; once you dig into these lenses, you'll be coming back again and again!

So take off your shoes and jump in. The pond is large, the water is lovely, and the more the merrier!

Let's get to know one another!

Please introduce yourself and give us some feedback!

We'd love to hear about you! How large is your family? What curriculum do you use? How long have you homeschooled? What would you like to see featured in this group?

Hi everyone,
My sister homeschooled for many years, plus I've met many homeschoolers through some of the books I've written for middlers (ex: Secret Journals of Bible-Time Kids). I'm happy that goovyoldlady opened the gate so my lenses could come in!

I'll be adding to the Amazing Webventure lens--lots of new places to explore.

Blessings on your week!

I think making lenses is more fun than reports. I just did one on what I learned about Dolphins last week. PS.MY MOTHER IS WRITING NOW! I am going to print the kids' lenses as part of their portfolios. The older kids will have more content and their own writings. This is a good tool to share with friends and family about what the kids are learning while homeschooled. Good for skeptics and supporters alike. DH sent the link out to grandparents, friends and even his own boss! The boss even left a nice comment!

I home schooled my only son for a year and a half, through a partial year in the forth grade and all of his fifth grade years. This was seven years ago, and living in a small town, there were not many like us. I felt very alone in my quest. It is so nice to see you all forming this group. It will be so beneficial to each of you to have the moral support and ideas.

The best of luck to all of you!

In my experience, no two homeschooling families educate their children in the same ways.

So tell us How YOU do it!!!
