" I found the information and design really outstanding from all the other lens I have seen.I like the reviews on the legitimate opportunities, the updates of the blog entries. Introduction: What is an Affiliate Program?

Simply put, an affiliate program is a system that pays you a commission when people buy a product or sign up for a service after having found that product/service via a link from your blog, lens, or website.

There are many types of affiliate programs that deal with tons of different niche products, so you should be able to find a program to fit any web topic that you are interested in writing about.

Where to find Affiliate Programs

Find Affiliate ProgramsWhile there are many types of affiliate programs, this lens will focus on the most common forms: pay per sale(PPS) or pay per lead(PPL). Both of these require that the referred person from your site complete some form of transaction on the affiliate site. There are many merchants that offer such programs, many are available on Squidoo listed in the moneymakers section of the lens modules.

If you don't find the particular affiliate links in the lens modules, or if you are looking for affiliate links for your blog or website many online companies offer referral programs that you can sign up for directly. In addition, there are many affiliate networks that host many programs consolidated under one sign up process. I will discuss more about that later, but first lets talk about some tips on affiliate marketing.

Five Basic Tips for Using Affiliate Links

  1. Find Affiliate ProgramsKnow your topic. Write about something you are interested in and provide information that will attract attention of people with similar interest. Your level of enthusiasm will show in your writing, and this will keep your viewers' interest.

  2. Know your topic. Yes, I repeated it. Your first mission should be to create an interesting and informative lens, with your reader in mind. An interested audience is more likely to stay captivated on your lens, which will lead to more sales.

  3. Link to Quality Products or Services. Do not choose products solely on the amount of revenue they will give you. Represent companies with good reputations and quality websites. This will ensure your readers are happy, and may lead to free "word of mouth" advertising for your lens.

  4. Use contextual Links when possible. Make your affiliate links flow inside of your text, instead of just having a banners everywhere. Readers are more likely to click on a particular product link if it is mixed in with interesting related content.

  5. Genuine Personal Endorsements Work Well if you have experience with a particular product, and you can honestly recommend it, then do so. Reviewing a product with details on its strengths and weaknesses will show you knowledge level, and if the reader is interested may lead to a sale. Recommending products you are unfamiliar with, and that may not be in your reader's best interest is a quick way to lose your reader's trust. DON'T DO IT!

Reviews of Some Good Affiliate Networks

Join TreasureTrooperCommission Junction - If you are looking for an affiliate network with a wide range of products this is it. They represent big names such as Quicken, GoDaddy, USA Today, and much more. There payout percentages are pretty good, although you can sometimes find bigger payouts if you can find the same product or offering at another Affiliate Network.

CPA Storm

CPA StormCPA Storm, while not as diverse in selection, has excellent payouts. They also offer payment via PayPal for those that prefer electronic payments. They focus mainly on health/beauty/diet offers, surveys and sweepstakes offers, credit cards, and more. They do offer some big payouts for some big names such as Discover Card and South Beach Diet.

OffersQuest

OffersQuestOffersQuest also offers payment via PayPal, and they pay monthly. They focus mainly on consumer related offers, surveys, freebies, etc. While their offerings are more limited than some of the others, I have had great service from these guys. They offer good payouts, and they always pay them out. Definitely one to check out if you have a consumer based site or blog.

Thanks for letting me in the group!

By the way, a tip on the affiliate networks posted above, just to save someone else the hassle - you can't post CJ links on your Squidoo Lens. You have to post CJ links on your own site/domain, otherwise they'll revoke your commissions. Trust me, I learned this the hard way :( It's in their agreement.

I haven't used the other ones listed, but I tend to use ClickBank a lot.

Anyway, thanks again, and I'm enjoying the articles!
