Jaques Adler devoted himself to a love of precious stones and did his apprenticeship in Vienna before setting up his own firm in 1886. His son became the court jewellers of the Ottoman Empire and opened up a second shop in Istanbul in 1955.

In 1858, a 28-year old jeweller named Frederic Boucheron founded his own jewellery house and opened a boutique in the highly fashionable Palais Royal district of Paris. Luxurious and opulent, decorated with crystal chandeliers and velvet fabrics, the boutique quickly attracted a prestigious clientele. Over four generations, the Boucheron family expanded and grew the company into one of the world's best-known fine jewellery brands.
Bulgari
Italian jeweller Bulgari was founded in Rome by Greek emigrant Sotirios Voulgaris in 1884. Once known just for jewellery, the company markets a range of products including handbags, fragrances, accessories and hotels. There are more than 150 Bulgari retail locations around the world. Bulgari's New York outlet is on Fifth Avenue and the Beverley Hills store is on Rodeo Drive.
Cartier
Louis-Francois Cartier founded this famous jewellery company in 1847. In 1902 his grandson Pierre Cartier opened and began to manage the London Cartier store before opening a New York store where it stands today on Fifth Avenue. A one time owner of the famous Hope Diamond, Pierre retired to Geneva in 1947.
Chopard
Chopard is a luxury watch, jewellery and accessory company founded in 1860 by Louis-Ulysee Chopard at the age of 24. Nearly 140 years later, the company is highly regarded in the watch-making field for creating precious watches. Chopard's initials, L.U.C can be found on some of their watches. They are most noted for their 'Mille Miglia' and 'Happy Diamonds' series.

Fameo is a luxury jewellery and accessory British company devoted to coloured precious stones jewellery and first jeweller to fully disclose grades of the precious materials used in the jewellery they sell. Van Cleef and Arpels
One of the most stylish jewellers of the 20th century; it was founded in 1906 by Alfred Van Cleef and his brother-in-law Charles Arpels. They occupied their first shop at number 22 Place Vendome in Paris where their premises still reside today. Their jewellery pre 1920 is characterised by fluid lines, graceful curves,
colour and a poetic sense of movement.
