Liberal-Minded Thinkers

Bleeding-heart liberals and Bush-bashers gather here! Anti-war, peaceful tree-huggers, welcome! Anyone who is horrified by the state of America (and the rest of the world, for that matter) under the Bush administration, and who loves America and the world enough to want to fix them, you're in, and in good company.

John McCain for President?? Hell no!!

Are you spreading the anti-McCain word?

It has boggled my mind one too many times that seemingly liberal-minded thinkers would consider voting for McCain if their favorite candidate doesn't get nominated. Say it isn't so!!! We can't get complacent and assume McCain would never make it to the White House. Right?

Where Do You Get Your News?

I'm with the crowd that says today's "liberal" (cough) media pretty much... no severely... suck on giving the no-frills fair-and-balanced. So where's a poor liberal to get the straight-up news?

I'm a Rachel Maddow fanatic. Yes, she's a talk-show host, yes, she's a pundit. She's also a Rhodes scholar, political-science-doctorate, cute-as-a-bug's-ear expert who really does her homework. I listen on XM from 3 to 5 Pacific time. Here's her blog.

Get out ASAP, but clean up the mess afterwards. Take Haliburton to court for profiteering and send seized assets and funds earmarked for war over there to start to rebuild a country and the reputation of the US.

... even greater chaos, civil strife, and mess when we pull out... much as happened in Vietnam. Then again, Vietnam is fairly stable now.

I think the Democrats are right: set a deadline, and shift strategy immediately towards "the cleanest exit possible." Which won't be perfect, but better.

You know, I honestly don't know the answer to that one. There aren't ANY good answers now.
On the one hand, the presence of American troops gives all the different conflicting factions one thing to agree on: they hate American occupation even more than other groups. On the other, I'm afraid of...

Hey, I ran out of characters up there. Anyway, as I was saying... I don't mean to say that things will be *good* in Iraq. I do mean that I think the American occupation is making things worse. There.
