Memorabilia and Ephemera

If your lens talks about old books, catalogs, postcards, stamps, and other treasures from days gone by, this is the place for you. Here are some Wikipedia definitions of memorabilia and ephemera (from Wikipedia), just in case you're wondering where one begins and the other ends. Ephemera is "transitory written and printed matter, not intended to be retained or preserved." Memorabilia are items that are "valued for a connection to a historical event, culture or entertainment. Such items include cigarette cards, air sickness bags, publicity photographs, posters, entertainment-related merchandise, movie memorabilia, and other, often-licensed, items."

Everything Old is New Again -- And Cool and Collectible, Too

These lenses are tapping into a hot new trend: the public's fascination with all things vintage and retro.

Vintage Postcards, Vintage black and white photographs., Vintage glass negatives, Collectable Beer Trays, Vintage Signed Baseballs

Please introduce yourself and let us know about what type of memorabilia/ephemera fascinates you....

Hi,
thank you for letting me join your group.
I run a shop in Featherstone, West Yorkshire, UK, with my wife Linda, selling antiques, collectables and good quality used items.
The shop is The A645 Trading Post, a converted, brick built chapel, where we have traded from for the last 10 years.
My main interests are photography, all types of ephemera, especially vintage postcards and photographs and historic buildings and architecture.
Glad to be here.

Like Keith I'm a bit of a magpie.

I collect items from the 1920's. Things like books, magazines, christmas cards, automobile advertisements, Coles Phillips illustrations, just to mention a few.

I'm gradually building lenses that cover all my interests.

Nice to meet you both! I had a great time scooping up some vintage cooking pamphlets yesterday @ .50/each. I was in heaven.
