Good Morning. I am writing from Dr. John Cooke's Cardiovascular Research Lab at Stanford University. We are looking for John Ward, the illustrator / graphic artist who drew medical illustrations in the mid-late 1990s. We would like to obtain his permission to publish the picture in an upcoming JoVE article, a free, online public publication. It is important to note, that we do not receive any money from this publication.
We would appreciate any knowledge or leads you might have on who to contact next.

I'd really appreciate it if all people wanting to join this group read the criteria for entry before suggesting a lens.

The criteria for entry comes just above this feedback module - so that's not far to go! :)

The group has never aimed to represent all of visual arts as the information about joining makes clear (I thought). Following your comment I have now made this even more explicit.

Drawing and painting only? How sad you are missing out on representing a large chunk of the fine art world.

Joining this Group: what you need to know and why lenses get rejected

Please read before submitting a request to join

The focus of this group
This group is about visual art - specifically drawing and painting only - and the business of being a fine artist in these particular fields.

Applications to join the group are encouraged.

Why applications to join are rejected
However, your request to join the group may be rejected if one of the following is applicable:
1) its scope falls outside the scope of this group (see above). The group is not about crafts, other areas of the visual arts or other aspects of fine art. This is not because other aspects don't merit belonging to a group but rather that this group would lose its main focus (drawing and painting) if it were open to all aspects of the visual arts. (You can always start a group for your own area of interest).
2) the lens does not emphasise the provision of good quality information about the fields of interest covered by this group - which is drawing and painting (ie the majority of content in an acceptable lens are non-commercial links)
3) the lens is not yet well developed - reapply when it is. This includes lens which contain mainly commercially oriented links AND/OR the lens mainly comprises lists which are the results of google searches or RSS feeds (ie there is very little, if any. original input by the lens owner). All lenses which are largely feed driven will ALWAYS be automatically rejected.
4) the lens focuses mainly on the work of an individual artist or artists. The lens is about promoting drawing and painting as activities and is not about promoting individual artists.
5) the lens contains no or few references which makes it relevant to the visual arts. A generic topic has to be tailor made to the visual arts in general and drawing and painting in particular to be acceptable.
6 ) You failed to read any of this section. The only people I ever write too are those who missed 'by a bit' as opposed to 'by a mile'.
7) You failed to provide me with a method of contacting you if I had a query.

In addition, if I'm not sure about whether your lens fits with others in the group, I'm likely to look at other lenses you have produced to see what they say about your interests and expertise.

Want to join this group? Post your lens below.

If the groupmaster likes it, he or she will add it to the featured lenses lists above.
