The Top Ten Road Trip Destinations in America

(According to me!)

• 1New York City.
  Sure it's not the best place to drive through, but it's the experience that counts.
• 2Boston.
  It's my home city, so I can't leave it off the list. I'm a little partial.
• 3The coast of Maine.
  Maine has the most beautiful coastline of the entire east coast. Sure, the sandy beaches of Florida are nice, but they can't hold a candle to the rugged beauty of Maine.
• 4Yellowstone National Park.
  This is one place that really impresses every single visitor that makes the trek. Geysers, volcanoes, bison in roaming herds, supervolcanoes, bubbling mud pots, crystal pools, waterfalls, and canyons. Need I say more?
• 5Route 1, California
  The coast of Route 1 really defies logic. It's a road that hugs the Pacific Coast so precariously that it's shut down every year because of landslides. The beauty is so compelling that the danger doesn't matter -- it's too pretty to avoid, so logic gets thrown out the window.
• 6Grand Canyon
  You can look at it up high from an airplane, but unless you've been here, can you really say you've seen it? The canyon is awe inspiring, massive, and eternal. It's also the perfect place to plan a road trip in the USA.
• 7Key West
  This tropical hideaway takes some dedication to reach. You'll have to hop on a plane from Southern Florida to get here, or drive over the Overseas Highway (the preferred route). Once you're here, it's like you're in a different country. Relax, and enjoy the sights.
• 8Great Smoky Mountains National Park
  The Smokies are the most visited National Park in the USA, partially because of the incredible road that traverses much of the park. The Blue Ridge Parkway begins in Great Smoky Mountain National Park, heading north. This amazing roadway will leave you breathless, guaranteed.
• 9Death Valley
  It's a place so remote, so inhospitable, and so hot that it's almost punishment to visit certain times of the year. People die here. People break down because there cars can't make it. Their tires pop, the engines overheat, and vultures peck out their eyeballs after they collapse from heat exhaustion. Okay, the last part was from an episode of Tales From the Crypt, but aren't you curious yet?
• 10Glacier National Park
  Going-to-the-Sun Road and the glaciers of this park are receding. Get here while there are still some glaciers left to see.
