Squidoo Lenses Dedicated to Bears

Save Our Bears is a group of lenses devoted to help change the plight all bear species through awareness and fund raising.

All of these lenses show the wonderful nature of bears and many will, at the same time, shine a spotlight on the dangers bears face including: trophy hunters, gall bladder and bile farming, pollution, bear baiting, global warming, and habitat destruction.

All lenses about bears are welcome -- including fun lenses on bear books, movies and toys. Let's band together and get people to fall in love with bears again like they loved their teddy bears when they were younger (some of us still do love our teddy bears).

As you join, I'll send you your badge. Please display it on your lens -- let's show people our love for bears and get more Lensmasters creating bear lenses!

I'll be visiting and ranking all of the sites added. Please do the same. The higher our rankings, the more people will hear about our wonderful bears. Let's get the word out!

The Purpose and nothing but the purpose

How can we make a difference?

After scratching my head and wondering what else I could do to save bears, I thought about groups. However, I couldn't find a group focusing on bears so I created this group.

The purpose is to find Lensmasters to create more and more quality lenses about bears in all their glory. To showcase the wonder of these animals. And, in the process, figure out even more ways to raise awareness and raise money to save them -- all 8 species.

SOB Badge

Janusz created our wonderful banner and badge. He is one of the reasons Squidoo is so nice to be a part of -- Lensmasters helping each other.

Click on his name to check out his lenses. Be sure to thank him for helping us promote bear-love.

Thank you, Janusz!

Consider Donating To NWF

National Wildlife Federation's Alaska Natural Resource Center is now a Squidoo charity. Please consider donating all or a percentage of your Squidoo income to them.

NWF and their Alaska Natural Resource Center are leading a nationwide grassroots effort to protect the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge (ANWR).

Their campaigns address the issue of climate change and its effect on polar bears from many angles, including clean energy, sustainable tourism, youth conservation leadership, reversing nature deficit, and protecting wildlife from global warming through adaptive management of habitat.

For more information on NWF click NWF-Arctic Refuge. Or, for membership information, click NWF Membership.

Saving Polar Bears Through Research And Education

I am so happy to have found Polar Bears International (PBI), a non-profit "dedicated to understanding and communicating all points of view on issues affecting polar bears throughout the world and conservation through research and education."

A few of their programs include: The Conference Classroom, where field scientist teach live classes from the tundra via Web casts; a Leadership Camp for high school students from around the world who travel to Churchill, Manitoba to study; a Polar Bear Camp at Gordon Point near Churchill; and several guest lecturer series. PBI also have the most comprehensive website on polar bears anywhere.

For more information or to join or donate to this wonderful organization, click Polar Bears International.

100% of the Squidoo income from this lens is donated to National Wildlife Federation's Alaska Natural Resources.

[in reply to EuroSquid] I forgot -- you can actually put in more than 5 in the module and they will rotate the 5 that show. So you can do that if you'd like to include others but only have 1 module.
