We the People - Support the Troops Group was created to show our support for those who are serving in the Armed Forces. We are also supporting the families of the Troops who serve the United States. We support the troops by making lenses that benefit organizations helping those who serve and their families. This group benefits are Operation Helmet, Soldiers' Angels and Dog Tags for Kids.
Lensmasters who have lenses that support the troops and/or their families and are donating a portion of their proceeds to charity are encouraged to submit their lenses. Be sure to submit "G" rated lenses only.

Benefiting Operation Helmet
Help Protect Our Heroes
OPERATION HELMET is a 100% volunteer, non-partisan, charitable organization headquartered in Montgomery, Texas (near Houston) with volunteer operations around the country. They provides helmet upgrade kits free of charge to troops in Iraq and Afghanistan, as well as to those ordered to deploy in the near future.
These helmet upgrades do three primary things:
* Protection - Shock-absorbing pads keep the helmet from slapping the skull when hit with blast forces, fragments, or being tumbled along the ground or inside a vehicle. This decreases the chance of brain injury from IED's, bombs, RPG's, vehicle accidents, falls, etc.
* Comfort - If it is comfortable, it will stay on troop's head longer and more often.
* Stability - Keeps the helmet firmly on the head and out of the eyes.
Help Protect Our Heroes.

Benefiting Dog Tags for Kids
Dog Tags for Kids is a grassroots effort to show support for the troops and their families. The Dog Tags for Kids Project is dedicated to helping United States Service men and women in most harm's way connect with their children at home. Specially engraved Dog Tags in the appropriate service color are provided FREE to the service members for their children. Dog tags are engraved "With Love From Dad (or Mom), the branch of the service, their location."
The dog tags must come from the parents so all dog tags are sent to Iraq, Kuwait, or Afghanistan at the request of the service members to send to their children; from their hearts to their children's hearts.Dog Tags for Kids is a grassroots project depending entirely on volunteers and donations to continue this mission. There is NO charge to the service member or their family for these tags.
As of July, 2008 they have sent 358,799 tags to the troops overseas to send home to their children.

Thanks for allowing Dog Tags for Kids to be a part of this group. It's nice to see such an effort designed to support and thank our men and women serving our country. All too often it's easy to take their service for granted, yet we owe them gratitude for so much! Thanks again for giving us the opportunity to be a part of it!
