Tall Ships Group

A group for tall ship fans and their tall ship lenses.

There's something about a tall ship that grabs you. It could be a connection to the sea, to history or the sense of adventure. Whatever it is, lensmasters have been inspired to build lenses about these magnificent ships. This group exists to feature and celebrate those lenses.

Looking for Group Members

If you have a tall ship lens, please consider joining the group. There are two key entry criteria for group lenses:

  1. It has to be about something to do with tall ships. This covers a wide range (specific ship(s), your own sailing adventures, history of a sea battle, a favorite tall ship book or movie, etc) and should be self-explanatory.
  2. It has to be a good quality lens (ie: has good content and stays on topic).
To submit your lens for group entry, post it in the entry section at the bottom of the lens.

My apologies, crew, I just discovered that I wasn't getting join request emails. I corrected the group settings so it shouldn't happen again. Welcome to our newest member, Irenemaria!

Hi,
I've just added a new lens about The Lady Nelson replica brig and and a voyage along Bass Strait and to the south to Hobart.
The original colonial vessel was built in 1789 in Deptford on The Thames.
She was the first to sail along Bass Strait from west to east.
She was also involved with establishing settlements at Port Philip Bay (Melbourne), Hobart, Port Arthur (Tasmania), Newcastle Australia and northern Australia.
I hope you will permit this lens to join your group.

I've been trying to find a high def picture that I once had as my screen background. It's of a very early tall ships sea battle in which a horse is seen standing at the bow of the ship in the foreground. The picture is rather dark with cannon flair lighting the ships.
Anyone know how I can find it again.
Thx,
AJH

[in reply to Crystal] Crystal, start by checking out the ships listed on Sail A Tall Ship. Most have their scheduled voyages and info on how to sign up listed on their websites. Good luck!
