So when we see that our glamourous idols have feet of clay, it makes them seem more real, more "normal" - and more like us.

Think about it though - is Hollywood not just a little bit like high school? There are the time honored couples, the dashing Prom Kings and beautiful, blushing Homecoming Queens, and then there are the people who do get caught up in all the hype, who seem to fall in love every single week. Sometimes it is shocking, such as when Bruce Willis and Demi Moore divorced. This was one of the most shocking celebrity breakups ever, and for a while there, especially when she began dating a younger man so quickly, Demi caught a lot of flack. Now however people praise her confidence. Yet people place bets on how long people like Paris Hilton, Lindsey Lohan, Matthew McConaughey, and Jude Law will stay with their current significant other. Sometimes, I would rather just sit back and read about the current fashion styles, but I guess this is a necessity.

Take a look back, and it is easy to see that it has always been that way. Liz Taylor was the Angelina Jolie of her day, stealing other people's husbands! Marilyn Monroe was an ingenue whose relationships were also closely monitored, and women cried every time Elvis Presley was rumored to be with someone new. Although girls were known to go into hysterics during performances by the Beatles, people wished Paul and Linda McCartney the very best - and consequently cheered the inevitable breakup of Sir Paul and Heather Mills.

High school couples are in the spotlight; some thrive and some collapse. Hollywood couples are no different. No adult relationship is any different, really, and seeing the aftermath of a bad celebrity breakup shows us that - that not even the rich and famous have it great all the time. The only real difference between celebrity breakups and our own is that ours are not on the six o'clock news!
