This group is for lenses all about the beautiful green mountain state of Vermont. Lenses by Flatlanders who love this state are welcome.
Although the term flatlanders is a pejorative term used by some native Vermonters, a large percentage of state residents are now flatlanders (see note below). I use the term merely as descriptive and with a sense of humor. Technically, I am a flatlander, even though I grew up in Vermont. I was born in Connecticut.
Note: From the Urban Dictionary, the term flatlander is:
"Used by native Vermonters to describe people from anywhere else in the country, regardless of whether or not your state has a higher elevation than Vermont. If you aren't native to Vermont, you're a flatlander, period. The term came about because of people from other states visiting the state on account of the ski resorts and the mountains."

I grew up in Vermont and am nearly a true Vermonter. The definition being that all ancestors for 4 or more generations must have been born in Vermont was only broken be my mother. Due to complications with her birth, my grandmother delivered my mother at the nearest hospital (in Massachusetts).
I will be opening a B&B in Royalton,Vt. this summer. Would love to see you there.

Yes, I'm a 'flatlander' also. But my family spent time living in Vermont on their journey to Ohio (yes, I have to do a lens on that someday) so I've always loved it. Discovering Archer Mayor's books was pure serendipity for me. Thanks for the invite to join the group.
