Great informative lens. I grow them on my deck ever year! Yummmm:)
  • Mistel Feb 27, 2012 @ 10:39 am | delete
Never thought of this, but since I don't have a garden and I love strawberries, this might be a great idea. :D
  • Mamaboo Oct 10, 2011 @ 11:01 pm | delete
Thanks for sharing. Yours is very similar to mine with tomatoes!!! Way to go!!!
  • poddys Jul 4, 2011 @ 7:22 am | delete
This is a wonderful resource, not to mention a really attractive lens as well. We have strawberries growing in our garden, but it's hard to keep them from going rotten and being nibbled, and we really don't get that many. A pot in a sunny spot might be a nice idea. I came, I enjoyed, I left a blessing behind.

They look amazing. I saw recently your comments on the new Giants program, I felt you were pretty disappointed with the changes. Dropping by for a bit of encouragement and to tell you I still love your lenses- even while temporarily you are not a Giant... so I hope you'll get over your discouragement:)

Strawberry pots look so cheerful on a patio. Keeping them from drying out is crucial to success. I've lensrolled this to Make a Raised Bed for Strawberries.

    a delicious lens - blessed
  • KonaGirl May 10, 2011 @ 12:56 am | delete
Fabulous lens! Really well done. i have always grown them in a garden. They come back every year and are usually best the 3rd year. This year I would like to try a few plants in a pot. Leaving you with a Squid Angel blessing and added your link from this lens to My Squid Angel Wings blessing lens.

Yummy, I would like to try growing some strawberries in pots. It is a pretty idea, and a tasty treat. I love my strawberries sliced with sugar on them.
  • Jewelsofawe Jan 27, 2011 @ 2:49 pm | delete
This sounds like a great idea!

I am growing strawberries in a pot on my porch. The plant is huge and keeps gtting bigger but there are no flowers or fruit. Based on the above info, I'm guessing it's because I planted them this spring. Can i winteer the pots in my garage and try again next year with the same healthy plant?
  • prosperity66 Jul 11, 2010 @ 3:09 am | delete
You can keep the pots in the garage during wintertime, just take a look at the plants from time to time so that you make sure they have sufficient watering - outside plants get water any time in fall and winter season with the rain.
Personally I kept my pots outside and winter started in November here and stopped at the end of February, they survived and grew better this year than ever. But I wouldn't suggest you to take any kind of risk therefore, place them in the garage and water them at least once a week.
Plant will normally produce strawberries next year - unless it produces berries in August or September this year - bought a Fragaria in spring and it is just starting to produce berries right now...
Cross my fingers for you to have a huge crop!
  • dc64 Jun 23, 2010 @ 9:20 am | delete
I've always wanted to grow strawberries because they are my favorite fruit, but I can never find the seeds. Next year, I'm ordering them online!

Loved the pictures...it made me want to lick my computer screen.
  • prosperity66 Jun 25, 2010 @ 5:57 am | delete
Ooops! Hope you cleaned the screen before, hahaha.
By the way, you can plant strawberry plants in September, they'll grow very well and will produce a great crop by June next year :)

Ok Ok ... I'm gonna try it soon ... that is ... strawberries in pots ... but I'm on to the hanging variety! Will let you know definitely how that works out for us! Ciao.

My son and I started a strawberry patch in our little garden that we keep adding to each year. It has been growing each year. I have a strawberry pot, too, but need to try again with it.

Hope you'll keep me update on how it works :)
  • Mickie_G Feb 13, 2010 @ 4:16 pm | delete
Love this lens. I really like stawberry pots but I have trouble watering them. I know there is a secret, but I forget it. Does anyone have any suggestions?
I like to grow herbs in the pots, by the way.
  • prosperity66 Feb 14, 2010 @ 7:38 am | delete
It's going to be added within a few minutes :)

I am in the process of moving and my new house has a sun room so this is perfect. Saves on the back too by not having to weed the garden. Blessed by an Angel :)

Wow, thanks Kathy! Hope to see pics of your new home!

Hope you'll keep us update on how it works :)
  • AddaptAbilities Feb 4, 2010 @ 3:34 pm | delete
I've tried strawberry pots, but I was trying to plant as small plants from 4" pots. Maybe if I try seeds it would work better.
  • prosperity66 Feb 4, 2010 @ 3:45 pm | delete
First time I tried, I did it with the shots of my garden's strawberry plants and it worked fine. I planted them in September and I got strawberries in June next year. If you plant them in the Spring you'll have to wait one whole year to have fruits...
  • DeborahLynne Feb 3, 2010 @ 5:49 pm | delete
I love strawberries, they are one of my favorite fruits. I grow a lot of herbs in pots but I have never grown strawberries in pots. I love your idea about growing them indoors! Great lens. Debbie
  • prosperity66 Feb 4, 2010 @ 9:07 am | delete
Give it a try and you'll see how funny it is and will want to extend the whole stuff ;)
  • luvmyludwig Feb 3, 2010 @ 4:52 pm | delete
sounds like the perfect thing to try and grow since it would be pretty and portable and yummy! The pictures make this lens really beautiful.
  • prosperity66 Feb 4, 2010 @ 10:07 am | delete
Thank you Crystal - indeed, nice hobby than this one! Love it ;)
  • arncyn Feb 2, 2010 @ 10:09 am | delete
    It looks and sounds very yummy, Dom! I have yet to try growing strawberries (although I doubt if they'll survive in tropical weather, yikes. I will have to update you on that). High quality lens as always so I have no choice but to *bless* it. (;
  • prosperity66 Feb 3, 2010 @ 7:32 am | delete
Give it a try and then we'll all share the results - you've got tropical weather, we've got rainy and gray weather so might be really interesting, lol.
  • WordCustard Feb 2, 2010 @ 6:18 am | delete

this is a wonderful idea, It is such a soothing hobby, getting to work in the soil yet you actually may get one of the berries instead of all going to the birds. haha. Beautiful lens, I loved it.
  • prosperity66 Feb 1, 2010 @ 6:40 pm | delete
LOL! Love your sense of humour! Thank for the comment though:)
