There are June bearing (bears all at once), day- neutral and everbearing (both bear throughout the season) type of strawberries. It is best to pinch the strawberry flowers the first year of a June bearing plant, but sometimes you only have to pinch the initial flowers of a day- neutral or everbearing variety. They will sometimes produce later in the season the first year if you do not pinch the later flowers, but it will probably be a smaller crop if they do.
