The Angels Walk Among Us

Many of us grew up believing that every child born of this world has a guardian angel watching over them. As a child I believed it with all my heart. I would huddle under the blankets in my cold, dark bedroom secure in the knowledge that my Guardian Angel would protect me from the boogieman, even if my brothers would not.

As a parent I would not have been able to step back and allow my children to "test their wings" without that added layer of protection. Their Guardian Angel would be with them every step of the way.

Beware that you don't despise a single one of these little ones. For I tell you that in heaven their angels are always in the presence of my heavenly Father. Matthew 18:10

A Comforting Companion

My Guardian Angel was with me when I took a wrong turn in the dead of night, and ended up driving the back roads of Wisconsin until daylight. My children slept through the ordeal and we reached our destination safely, albeit a little tardy.

There were angels huddling with us in the downstairs hallway while Hurricane Hugo ravaged our home and the city of Charleston.

I trusted God and his angels when they guided me onto a new career path when the Navy pulled out of Charleston, leaving both me and my husband without a job.

An angel in the house they say, will guard your family night and day.

The Guardian Angel

Angel of God, my guardian dear
To whom God's love commits me here;
Ever this day be at my side,
To light and guard, to rule and guide.
........Amen

Stepping Back

It was hard to step back and let my children grow into healthy, happy, independent adults. I'm not sure I would have stepped back had it not been for my faith in God. The Angels would watch over them. I knew it in my heart even if my mind had trouble grasping the concept.

The Angels were there the first time my son took the car leaving me behind to fret and worry. Would he survive the two mile trip to the store without the constant harping of a backseat driver?

Would I survive?

The Angels flew with my son and his buddies on their first non-adult supervised vacation. They were nineteen at the time but in my eyes they were still babies. Letting him go was one of the hardest things I ever did.

When my youngest son decided that sky-diving would be an entertaining hobby, his Guardian Angel was with him all the way. He jumped three times before I even knew about it.

Absolutely. Everyone has a Guardian Angel.

ClassyGals says:

I do believe in guardian angels! There's many times in my life that I'm sure I had one looking out for me.

OhMe says:

I think so and it is a great feeling

Tipi says:

I believe that everyone has angels looking out for them.

Nope! Children and babies have Guardian Angels, adults are on their own.

There is joy in the presence of the angels.

Second Childhood

My Guardian Angel walks with me and for that I am thankful. Retirement is fast approaching, and I was an impulsive child. I don't think a lifetime of experience will make a whit of difference. My childhood was wild and free. There's no reason to believe my second childhood will be any different. My son keeps talking about skydiving ...

If I ever become a Saint-I will surely be one of "darkness." I will continually be absent from Heaven-to lit the light of those in darkness on earth.
