Guild Wars 2 Review

Arenanet was founded by 3 crazy guys (in a good sense) who they wanted to change the world. Actually the video game world. Guild wars was the first game they have ever created. They had estimated to sell 1 million copies and they sold 6 million copies.

Can you actually understand what I am saying here? A new company releases its first game EVER and it sells 6 million copies (over the years not overnight :D ). Can you understand what they have achieved? Even the best developing companies are freaking amazed with the result or should I say they envy them. I am sure they were so happy they shitted their pants. I would.

After the success with Guild Wars 1 now they will soon (in 2012 hopefully, if they wont change the date again for a thousand time, actually there is not an official release date yet only company estimations nothing more) , release Guild Wars 2. In GW2 they took all the good elements from GW they injected some steroids in them and they have added some new ideas.. I am feeling such an orgasmic happiness in the idea of playing this game. From what I have seen so far I cannot find something bad in this game. Building this lens (minisite) is going to be a lot of a hard work and it will be really difficult, for two reasons. Firstly the amount of content I have to write plus the research for videos and pictures and secondly, I cant decide what to include and what to leave out. But it is not something that you really care about so lets begin.

Guild Wars ( with the 2 campaigns and the expansion) and Guild Wars 2 mmorpg is a HUGE ass story. Meaning both of the scenarios are connected to each other. 250 years have past since the last events in GW. The whole world has changed. Nothing is the same. And I do mean nothing is the same.

The 5 Elder Dragons, have always lived in Tyria but sleeping deeply. Their champions had the responsibility to protect them while they were sleeping. And of course those champions caused a lot of trouble to the creatures of Tyria.

After the heroes in GW1 slayed the champion of Primordus, the Great Destroyer, a chain of events resulted in the awakened 5 dragons. The dragons and their minions caused a great deal of trouble in Tyria. Various races and creatures started fleeing from their homelands seeking new homes. Those refugees were not accepted with happiness by the natural inhabitants of the rest of the unaffected continent. Minor conflicts resulted to full scale wars for the dominance of new feeding grounds and resources. Refugees versus the rightful inhabitants.

Humans , the once ruling race of whole Tyria now they have fled to a small region. The everlasting war with the Charrs, another powerful race, has weakened them greatly. Moreover a new war with the Centaurs is now what worries them the most because they are loosing the countryside. Meaning they are loosing their feeding grounds. Plus the dragon minions are coming to add more grief and sorrow in all that.

New races have been created and now they are seeking a place to settle and a purpose in this world, old races are fighting for survival, power is changing hands very fast, kingdoms fall, taken over by new rulers, rebuilt and thrive. New cities are created only to be destroyed at their peak.

Cantha and Elona the other 2 continents of this vast world have been cut off from Tyria. The dragons took care of that. So now nobody can help the poor souls in Tyria. No one really understands that they are fighting for ownership over the lands of Tyria when all the creatures and races on the continent are prisoners of the dragons. They cant go anywhere. Only a few determined warriors ready to fight back the dragons and distinguish themselves are the only hope in this uneven battle.

Their greatest task will not be to defeat the dragons. No that would be the easy part. The most challenging and heroic task is to convince all the races to unite and fight all together. How is it possible to convince all the races to forget and put aside all their differences and conflicts and fight all together? If they wont find a way quickly then they all face extinction. None race is capable on its own to defeat the dragons. Let's hope it wont be too late.

The dragons is a mysterious race. Noone knows where they came from or what they are looking for. What is their purpose or motives. They are believed to be (although it must be true) older than the gods or even older than the True Giants or Gigantigus Lupicus. They have been sleeping for thousands of years. All the races of Tyria were unaware of their existence until the recent events.
The creatures of Tyria are unable to understand their nature,intelligence or even their motives and they seem unstoppable.

Primordus was the first Elder Dragon to awaken. Asura, an intelligent race lived underground, were forced to flee on the surface. Asura believed that the statue of the dragon was just a huge rock emitting endless energy. The Great Destroyer, the champion of the dragon, and its minions were responsible for flooding the underground caverns and making all the races and creatures who lived there to flee. Only the great Dwarves stood their ground and decided not only to fight the destroyers but to hunt them down and eradicate them. Unfortunately the were overran by the endless numbers of the destroyers and they were extinct.
Primordus comes from the latin primordium meaning ---> the first to rise

Zhaitan was the next one to awaken. When he woke up the once sunken Orrian peninsula due to the Foefire, rose again. The rise of the peninsula caused huge sea waves flooding all the islands and coastal cities and drowning thousands. All the creatures who died during the flood now returned as undead soldiers. Those soldiers maned all the once sunken ships. Those ships with the undead crew formed a massive fleet chasing all the trade ships and cutting off cities from supplies. Plus they blocked the passage to Cantha so no Tyrian or Canthan ship can go in or out.
Zhaitan comes from the name Shaitan, an islamic demon or Satan.

Kralkatorrik is the most recent awakened dragon. He used to sleep in the Charr homelands and they thought he was a mountain. He has the ability to corrupt any living creature and transform it to something twisted and mindless full of hate crystalline creature. The Charrs fear nothing and they live only to participate in battles, kill and hunt. But they stay away from the lands where the dragon passed because there live creature so horrible that can make a fearless Charr run away like a scared kitty.

Another Elder Dragon is The Deep Sea Dragon. This dragon has no name because noone has ever seen it. They know they exist due to its servants, the weird tentacled creatures. This dragon lives in the deep seas without affecting the inhabitants of Tyria. Where exactly he lives is unknown.

Jormag is the last awakened dragon rising from the depths of the north Shiverpeaks. The ice dragon made the proud and powerful races of Kodan, a 3 meter (10 feet) high armored polar bear like, race and the Norn, a 2.6 meter (9 feet) high human like giants to flee south scared like little children. The dragon and his champion are capable of corrupting the mind of the warriors foolish enough to challenge their power. Then they become an addition to the already huge minion army of the dragon. They become the Icebrood. Once living creatures now they are mindless soldiers covered with ice attacking anything and anyone who will dare to approach the lair of the dragon.

There are 5 playable Guild Wars 2 races. Those races are all species living in Tyria. Those are the :

Asura

Charr

Humans

Norn

Sylvari

Each race has a unique and different starting area in the world of Tyria. During the character creation the player will have to choose some options which will determine its back story. Those options will have to do with the race. Unique racial abilities and skills will be available to the players which will give them a certain advantage during their gameplay but those skills will not be overpowered so it will be more in game balance.
Moreover each race will have to determine which other minor race they have sympathy for. This choice will affect their gameplay around the start area.

Guild Wars 2 Professions are martial occupations. None character can go start adventuring without a profession. It is what defines him/her. It is what will help the player survive. It is what the whole game and all the other rpgs are based on. The profession determines the armor type (light, medium, heavy) and the weapons (too many to list them here), as well as exclusive skills and traits available for them to use. Each profession is unique. There is nothing similar to each of the professions. In the battle each of the profs has a certain job, a certain purpose to fulfill and none can replace it.
The playable professions are 8 in the Guild Wars 2 free mmorpg so far. All profs are available for all races and they give to the player the possibility to venture on his own or in a group. Not all professions can wield all the weapons, there are some restrictions on that. And lastly when the player will create his/her character the profession can not be changed
