Ingredients You Will Need For This Guinness Beef Stew

These ingredients should make enough Guinness Beef Stew for 4 servings

800g brisket of beef, braising steak or stewing beef cut into 2cm cubes
3tbs olive oil
10 peeled whole baby onions or shallots
3 cloves of garlic roughly chopped
2 carrots, chopped
200g button mushrooms, left whole
2tbs flour
Few sprigs of fresh thyme
300ml of beef stock
300ml of Guinness

How to make The Best Tasting Guinness Beef Stew

Just follow these easy instructions to make the best tasting Guinness Beef Stew

Preheat your slow cooker on high
Heat the oil in a large pan and sear the beef in batches. Remove the beef from the pan and set aside
Now add the onions, carrots, garlic and mushrooms to the pan and sauté for about 5 minutes. Return the beef to the pan, sprinkle in the flour and cook whilst stirring for 4 minutes.
Turn the heat right down and gradually pour in the Guinness and beef stock whilst continuing to stir. Bring to the boil then transfer to your slow cooker, add the thyme sprigs and clamp on the lid. Turn the heat to low and cook for 6-7 hours. Adjust seasoning as required.
