Guitar Hero for Nintendo Wii

Guitar Hero for Nintendo Wii: Is it a Blast or Bust?
Playing a string instrument like the guitar could really be fascinating. But is the joy solely for those who can really pluck or strum the strings? Or could guitar playing be more than just holding the real instrument? Say hello to Guitar Hero then. Guitar Hero, in general, may refer to any one of the following:

1. Guitar Hero

2. Guitar Hero 2

3. Guitar Hero Encore: Rocks the 80s

4. Guitar Hero III Mobile

5. Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock

Primarily, the idea of developing a game that utilizes the guitar was inspired by an arcade game called Guitar Freaks which was developed by Konami.

It was RedOctane that worked upon this inspiration and went on to get the cooperation of Harmonix. RedOctane is famous for making dance pads (used in home consoles) that are being used in Dance Dance Revolution. With a million dollars to burn (which is not much for creating a video game), Guitar Hero was born. And unlike its predecessor, it raked in proceeds for the happy makers.

The Best Version Of Guitar Hero

But no other version of the Guitar Hero was more publicized or was widely awaited as the unveiling of Guitar Hero for Nintendo Wii.

As early as February 2007, it was already heralded as a vital event for gamers and no serious gamer out there took this matter lightly.

And with most Guitar Hero fans awaiting its release, it was reported that the demand was too much to handle.

First users were quick to report that the Wii version is not compatible to Dolby Pro Logic 2. Also, the supply of hardware for the game itself was not intelligently calculated.

Much like the Xbox 360 version, Wii versions are also hard to find. Surveys showed that only a few stores actually carried the Guitar Hero Wii version.

To add to these, there was also a shortage of guitar controllers. The technical team behind the game quickly looked into the matter, though.

Feel The Game!

But it's not all bad. Guitar Hero is, after all, a game that evokes rhythm. Playing the game requires a sense of beat, a little tolerance, and you should at least distinguish the songs that are part of the game. Through constant practice, you also get to apply an important skill in real guitar playing-that is to have agility of the fingers.

Wii uses the Gibson Les Paul version of guitar controller. It could take a while to get used to the features but it is doable.

The game starts with an intro (its purpose is to hype the game up). Once past that stage, you get to name your band.

You will then choose between the following options: Training/Tutorial, Multiplayer, Career, Single or Quick Play, and Options.

The Career option holds volumes of fun. This option has four levels which makes you earn kudos, fame and, yes, even cash.

With each song completed comes an increase on your level and also new venues. The money earned could also be used to purchase other guitar types, characters and songs.

The Quick play allows the player to perform a song that was unlocked on the Career option. There is a high score on this option.

Multiplayer, on the other hand, allows two players to manipulate the game. Tutorial mode, of course, teaches the player the basics.

The best way to start 'feeling' the game is to have a go at one song. After mastering one song, you can progress to the next and so on and so forth. Just like any game, it would become easier with constant practice. So go get that guitar controller now and start strumming into a world of fun!
