Guitar Hero World Tour Wii

The Guitar Hero World Tour video game is my teenager's must-have toy for Christmas this year. Since we told the kids that they will only be getting one gift each from Santa this year, I've been doing a lot of research to make sure that this is the one with the most bang for our buck.

Newly released in October, this video game has been updated with features that now simulate a complete band experience - with guitar, drums, vocals and song recording studio. Plus in the Battle of the bands, two bands of 4 players each can compete against each other.

To my surprise (and delight), I found that Guitar Hero World Tour was recently ranked the 'most frequently played' and a top 'recommended game' for teenagers both in a Pew study and the 2008 Parent's Guide to Video Games.

Based on my research, we've promised our teen that he will finally get his own copy of the game for Christmas. After watching all the demos, I'm convinced that older music lovers will also enjoy the game. Hubby and I are already planning to rock out loud with Van Halen, the Allman Brothers and Jimi Hendrix (just 2 of the 86 included songs) while our son is away at school!
