Learn To Play Guitar

My son, Matthew, has made a web site to teach kids, teens and adults how to play the guitar. It is guitar-beginner-center.com. Visit and learn to play guitar with Matthew!

Matthew has been playing the guitar now for about 10 years. He started when he was 7 years old. He is fabulous. Not only on guitar, but on drums and keyboard as well. He writes and performs his own material. Currently, he gives guitar lessons to kids and adults. He also works on writing songs and building his web site. This is a very talented young man and I am so proud of him.

If you have always wanted to learn how to play the guitar, check out his site. He just started it a few weeks ago so be patient as he gets more pages up while still doing schoolwork, music lessons that he gives and takes, and writing music and performing!

When Matthew was a toddler, he always wanted to play with toy instruments, especially keyboards, drums, and toy guitars. He wrote his first song when he was 3. It was called, "I'm Standin' On My Bone" and it was so cute. He sang it with such conviction, like a rock star with his toy guitar. He has been playing, writing, and singing ever since.

You can learn a lot from Matthew because he is passionate about teaching guitar. He started teaching his sister and gives guitar lessons to children and teens in his spare time.

Check out his site for some beginner lessons. Dont' worry. He will make it more professional looking as time goes on. He is just now learning how to build pages.

Other mothers would often ask me how I could stand having guitars, keyboards, and drums in the house. What about all of the noise? I would answer that when he plays, it is not noise. It is beautiful music and that is true.

Moms, if your child shows musical ability, encourage him or her. Buy some earplugs for yourself if you cannot tolerate the sounds, but let your child play!

Country Music

Hall Of Fame

Matthew has set up a Country Music Hall Of Fame on his web site to honor country music stars who played the guitar. Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, and many others are featured. I told him to include Roy Clark and Buck Owens since they are/were both fantastic pickers. I used to see them on Hee Haw each Saturday night when I was a young girl. He has never seen the show.

In the photo at right, Matthew and his sister, Tiffany are standing in front of a wall of country music gold records inside the Country Music Hall of Fame where we visited in June of 2008, right before Matthew and Tiffany went to a week of music camp. The camp was called Camp Electric in Nashville on the campus of Trevecca Nazarene University. They got to meet Christian artists and work with them all week long. They had a blast. I just wish we had the money to send them back again this year.
