I'm a hobbyist guitar player since 1980 and I am mad about everytihng related to this issue. Since then, I've played in a lot of bands (probably you've never heard of) and I've had lots of fun.

I've studied music (harmony, melody, rhythm, composing, improvisation and soloing) for 4 years. Then I've decided to play hard rock and blues. I know it's only rock'n'roll but I love it!

My current axes are a 1986 Focus 2000 Purple Haze Kramer and a 1994 Classic Floyd Rose Tobacco Sunburst Fender. My amplifier is a Super 60 Valve Fender Cube and my pedals are a custom Vox Cry-Baby and a Boss Stereo Chorus.

By the way, that custom from "custom Vox Cry-Baby" was a diy mod that I will post here in the future.

Electric Guitar

An electric guitar is a guitar that uses magnets to capture and to convert the vibration of the metal strings into electrical current.

Solid body electric guitars

Solid body electric guitars have no holes to amplify metal string vibrations. The sound is amplified by an amplifier.

Hollow body electric guitars

Acoustic guitars have a hollow body and, sometimes, electronic pickups mounted on its body. The hollow body vibrates to produce a characteristic sound. Nylon strings can be used on these guitars too.

Famous guitars

Some electric guitars have become famous on the hands of their players.

One of the most famous guitars is Brian May's home built "Red Special", an important part of Queen's singular sound.

Eric Clapton's "Brownie" (a 1956 Fender Stratocaster) and "Blackie" (based on '57 models) are icons. Clapton played them from early 70's to the mid 80's.

An icon to heavy metal was designed by Randy Rhoads himself and built by Karl Sandoval.

Hank Marvin, Shadows lead guitarist, owned the very first Strat in the UK. His '58 Fiesta Red model started the phenomenal success of the Stratocaster.

David Gilmour owns a collection of Strats. Among them, the famous '54 Custom Color model with serial number 0001.

George Harrison played a 1961 Stratocaster. He named his Strat "Rocky".

Stevie Ray Vaughan, Rory Gallagher or Buddy Holly Stratocasters became famous on their own too.

Jake E. Lee was associated with Charvel guitar's after he used a number of different models including a white Stratocaster with a black pickguard.

BB King's ES-355 Gibson "Lucille" is also famous.

Eddie Van Halen's Kramer is another guitar strongly associated to hard rock music.
